Alright. My computer will not (other than the title screen) play music when I play Civilization III, I have no idea why. Can anyone give me a hint or at least give me where the music folder is.

Tried that. It's on!

Sound and music. I hear birds, crickets, etc., but no music.

Damn you computer. You win this time. (again.)

Are you playing vanilla civ3 or Conquests? (or civ3 complete?).

I had the same problem when I installed Conquests (sound effects would play normally, but no music) because I had installed Civ3 using the "Minimal" option. I then reinstalled Civ3 (now using the "Typical" option) and Conquests, and the problem was solved.

It does sound like a minimal install.

The music gets boring, tho. I just leave sounds off.

Yeah, i also turn it off, but i hate how bugged it is.
I donno exactly when and when not, but it always seems to be turned back on again. Normal games keep the settings you last gave it, certainly if you do it in the main screen instead of in the game screen.
Also do i need to set it off-on-off before it is actually off. :(

i have my own civ mix ready every time i play civ, i start it up when i boot it up and never look back, been doing this for almost 2 years now

I still like to play with Civ music, any other music distracts me from wreaking havoc upon my enemies.

I like the in game music!! I've got some old chant and baroque music I'd like to throw in there. If I make Mp3 tracks of this stuff, where should I place it so it plays in "rotation". Is there any way? Let's assume I don't want to run winamp.

well if youre missing part of the music folder then have someone send the missing files to you. by the way i think the cricket file is annoying so i only use it in my nite time mod where all the terrain is really dark

I happen to like the in-game music, especially once you get to the Industrial age and beyond.

Music folder (assuming default install path): C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Sounds

Just hit WIN+R and type that in then hit enter.
