It's true!

While cheking an AI civ during testing my new scenarios,
I have noticed in a lot of instances, that after a while the rich
civs tend to get lazy and stop fighting, instead doing capitalization
in every city, while enemy civs are giving them a pounding....

It's insane!

has anyone else noticed this?
Is this a hard-coded feature or a game state spurs this bizarre AI activity?

I don't want to make capitalization unavailable... :crazyeye:

It Hapend to me ones to. It wase just one "enemy" (the English i think).
They had democresy as gowerment and i thout that they diden't want to fight and they whas a pecefull nation (this was in a regular civ2 game, not a scen) so i made pece and started to demand money frome them and they gave me almost al the time, helping me conqur the world. ;)

When civilization has more than about 500 units then it stops building any more and turns all production into city improvements and capitalization. It is hardcoded to the engine. Making capitalization unavailable don't help at all.

You need to lower the number of units civs have.

That makes sense.

When the AI lost some units,
It would go back on the warpath for a while...

Hmm, at this point, the AI nation had triumphed anyway...

This has got me thinking...
:crazyeye:

Curt this may not apply to your scenario, but I've noticed that in the standard game the AI gets less aggressive once the space race begins.

True,
could be a technology trigger...
"Space Flight" is called "Supersonic Flight" in my scenario,
and the AI in question had this tech around the same time as
the problem started...
This and the unit count could be to blame.

I think the fact that the Events.txt was giving the AI a lot of
free units (which it was using to defend cities) was a factor.

Warsaw had 47 defenders! Unreal!

I have fixed the events to prevent this silly situation.

PS
I'm honoured to meet the creator of such greats as 'Pitt's war at sea!'
:D
