My Computer Does Things By Itself

I hope it's ok to start this thread here.

My computer does this thing alot where I'll just be using it like normal, then sometimes it will do things by itself, such as make the web browser go back a page, or make me scroll up or down. It's gotten so bad that sometimes when I'm posting on here I copy things just so I can paste them back if my computer kicks me out of replying!

And sometimes my mouse will just start running wildly all over the screen, and the only way that I know to fix it is just to unplug and replug the it.Sometimes the mouse will just be completely in-responsive to commands, and won't even move.

Anyone know anything about how to fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a driver or hardware issue with your mouse and/or keyboard. Try re-installing it, if there was any installation. Or wipe the drivers and update them or something. To troubleshoot, if you have another mouse and keyboard lying around, use those and see if the problem goes away.

My bluetooth keyboard does something similar where the scroll wheel will randomly act up and make any program I am running think it is going up and down. I have to move the scroll wheel to remind it that it is not moving. Doesn't happen enough to be really a problem though.

Thanks for trying to help.

I got Windows to see if there were any new driver updates, but it didn't find any.Maybe I'll find some way to get this fixed.

Wireless? Low batteries?

No, it's hooked directly to the computer with a cord.

I wonder if it's not even the mose that's causing this.I think my computer may sometimes do some things when the mouse is not even in the right place to click that particular thing.

Can you try another mouse?

It does sound like it's something with the mouse, though we won't know till we figure it out.

I might try that sometime.

My mouse is a laser mouse;is it common for them to act like this?

Check to see if there is a hair or anything protruding across the laser aperture. I had similar symptoms and eventually found an eyelash in there. Took me quite a while to spot it but it was enough to stop the mouse.

I looked in there and it looks like there is some hair in there. But I can't get the screw out of the back to get it open!

It could also be that your computer has been hacked and some guy is controlling it remotelly. :scan:

A mouse problem is much more probable though.

I honestly have no idea how to help you, but out of curiosity, what kind of computer do you have?

Wow.I didn't think about this thread being revived.

My computer is a computer that me and my brother actually built.

Specifications:
OS:Windows 7
CPU:AMD Phenom 2 940(I think)Quad Core
2 GB of Crucial DDR2 RAM
Biostar Motherboard
Sapphire ATI 4000 series graphics.

That's all the main things.

I'm in no way a computer expert nor will I pretend to be, but I can say that one of the drawbacks of building your own PC is then whenever there's a problem with it there's no official "technical support" for you.

If you buy a computer at the store you can always get the phone support from the manufacturer, but if you make it yourself you lose that. That said, I still think making your own computer is awesome. You just have to be knowledgeable and careful.

Yeah, me and my bro like doing it this way, but like you said, it does have drawbacks.:D

If nothing else it's a good skill to know how to do. If you want to work in a computer repair shop for example, knowing how to build a computer is a good place to start.

The other day my computer started to open Civ4 by itself.
