My dear sick ol' laptop

Hey, I have a Presario 1500 and have had it for about 1 1/2 years now. When I first got it I could play anything on it. Civ3, Europa Universalis, and even things like Morrowind...you name it! Now it can't handle those games for even 5 minutes before it reboots (I think from overheating because it gets very warm).

Now these games are the exact same games that worked before, with the exact same O/S and devices and drivers, so I don't think it's anything that's configured wrong.

Does anyone know what it could be? Why it would always overheat like that? Thanks.

Start with the simple stuff first, like some routine maintenance....delete un-needed files, clean out browser cache, temporary internet files and temp files....defrag the hard drive.

You don't say much about your configuration and internet hook-up. Check for viruses and adware/spyware (there are numerous references in other threads on how and what to do) because both can really overtax the processor if you are linked via cable or always-on broadband.

Maybe some of the more hardware oriented folks can chime in.
