My disk drive suddenly stopped reading disks today anyone know what to do about it, and dont say something stupid like go buy a new one, if u have any suggestions on what to do to make it work again let me know.

Well if it's broken then you need to buy a new one. What's stupid there is about that. ;)

It doesn't read anything or it reads only some disks? Does the activity led light up when you try reading a disk? Does it make unusual noises?

heres my suggestions.

try another CD
check to see if the power cable is plugged into the drive(note this is to the actual drive itself not from the power supply unit to the wall, this will of course require to you open up your computer)

check to see if the IDE cable is plugged in(a grayish ribbon that will connect from the drive to the motherboard)

try a different power cable(hooking up a different power cable to the power slot on the drive)

if all that fails you'll be forced to purchase a new one(they can be bought pretty cheap)

alright thanks but, it opened fine and everything but, it wouldnt read disks, today it just started working again i dont know why, its happened before, but its ok now i guess
