My simple test mod not working with Warlords!?!?

CustomAssets?

I have no idea really - I don't have the game yet. I assume there are multiple mods folders like vanilla Civ 4. Maybe try the other folder?

I notice that mods they supplied generally only change individual lines to xml's and will have, for example, 4 entries, say in the unit file. The other units default to the original file? I don't know things have changed and there's no documentation I can find. It's very different and screwed up at this point.

Sounds like it. Really should have been how it worked from the start, and was something we were contemplating for the CCP. Would make everything alot more pluggable, thought I'd guess it's a bit tougher, as some people don't want the default units in their game.

I'd have to look into the files before I can guess how to get them to work. I'm expecting my copy tomorrow or the day after...

Well, I'm about to throw in the towel until there's some documentation on this. It's a godawful mess I cna't figure out right now. it makes a lot of little tweaks TOUGH to do. Why can't I jsut copy the whole danged file and then use it as a base and tweak values here and there... GR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because it makes plugging different mods together much easier. Instead of having to manually combine each Civilization you download (for example), you can just drag and drop them into a folder.

I would guess if you copy an individual entry it would work. Clearly it doesn't. Hopefully somebody who has the game will come in here and explain, otherwise I'll try to figure it out when I get the game, and get back to you ;)

LOL. It actually was a no brainer. My problem was, in fact, I was thinking too much. If you mod jsut like the old days, you'll be OK... although now you have the resources of the vanilla civ iv installation too (for example I used the Betsey Ross style flag for the Americans which is from civ iv not warlords).

There's a "barebones" mod example that Warlords comes with in which XML files are pretty short and gives a sense of how you can edit them further. I prefer to use full length ones because I'll tinker with stats/units I didn't plan to tinker with and want them all there, so I go that way.
