game made trivial on diety level.

monarchy then republic then democracy. make this your priority. get trade too. spend most shields on food caravans and use them to finish wonders. build hanging gardens and oracle. put trade units into GOLD not tech. spend gold on rushing economic improvements like temples and marketplaces and finishing caravans after they are half built. at republic spend 30 or 40 percent on luxuries. with all this you will be celebrating "we love the whatever" day frequently and will rarely have happiness problems. every city must have 3 caravans. they go to large foreign cities preferably over seas. they generate huge gold and beakers on arrivals. the beakers allow your science to more or less keep up with the competition. but who needs to keep up anyway? build lots of new cities. the stronger your rivals get the more lucrative your caravans are. BUILD caravans ... lots of them. get to democracy and cut luxury spending to 20 percent. build other happiness wonders even if you have to spend gold to rush them to completion. build cities lots of them. build hundreds of them. get industrialization so your transports dont make your citizens unhappy. you will need lots of them for all those caravans. freight is better (corporation). rush to completion stock exchanges and then superhighways and airports. yes airports. they and superhighways make your freight more lucrative. 1500 gold per freight on arrival is common. rush them to completion because you want those 1500 gold and 1500 beakers. build roads around all cities. they produce trade. lots of it if you have all these economic improvements. you will need lots of engineers. dont worry about the decrease to your city size. your insane happiness from all that trade you are generating will keep your citizens celebrating every turn. but you must spend 20 percent on luxuries. a size 20 city with 3 caravans a marketplace bank stock exchange superhighway and airport and none of this dumb "mine" stuff will generate 350 to 400 gold without a pollution problem.

military .... whats that for? the AI is so inept its just not worth the cost. who has gold to spend on THAT? build a few diplomats. they will take back whatever cities are lost very cheap. and yes you will lose your temple but you will also gain a few military units for FREE.

play this way on a large world (such as the large world map) and you can have 254 cities by 1800 usually. leave one enemy city till the end of the game. at this point you just build 1000s of engineers to convert all the land to irrigation and road first and then finally all to grassland. a civ score over 13000 will result. btw conquering your opponents is trivial when you have 60 or 70 cities and none of them have more than 20. dont conquer their best city. thats where the freight all go to. conquer them with howitzers stealth fighters a few paratroopers and maybe a few spies.
