I think that we can say now for sure those water bodies are not lakes and really Oceans. Does anyone have suggestion for their names. We need to name the western and eastern ocean as the south one already been named.

Please what do you think should be their names

I agree with the names for river 2 and desert 1 :D

Some suggestions:
River 1: Prosper River
Ocean 1: Ice Sea

3 great lakes- Shattered Lakes
desert 1- Sands of Time

what about the lake to the northwest of the capital, I suggest the Lake of Indecision in memory of us trying and constantly failing to name our capital

ok so tonight the poll with close and starting to this time of this very post in 3 days i'll open up the new polls of all the Seconded names in here. so right now i'm seconding or it have been seconded :

river 1 : prosper river (i'm seconding)
river 2 :dutch river (seconded by dutchfire)
desert :fire Desert (seconded by dutchfire)
3 lakes :Shattered Lakes (I'm seconding)
lake near capitol : lake of indecision (I'm seconding)

if no other names are being seconded than those will become instant winners (consult Judicial review) since no other names are to be in those polls and since I'm not planning to make a "none of the above" option

still I think we need names for oceans. we can always rechange all those names later...

As I said once before, I would not object to your applying unofficial names to your map, possibly hoping that these names might later become official, but your current tactic is unsettling. Perhaps there are one or two of us would would not like to name things in a rush and faux-democratic attempts to rush things may encourage counterpolls to un-name things. Please reconsider.

why dont you suggest names...then we'll change them...

I submitted that question to judicial review. It's not faux-democratic and totally by the rules. why wait to name things when we can name them now and change them later...

85720857 you can also create the same discussion/poll to name something, as we all free here

Because I want good names and haven't thought of any that are appropriate. I prefer no names over bad ones.

It is most certainly a fake. You are starting a poll with the express intention of omitting an option that voters in the past have shown a great preference for. That will give an appearance of democracy where it does not really exist. FAKE!

and totally by the rules.

Beside the point as no one accused you of breaking rules.

why wait to name things when we can name them now and change them later...

Because I want names to mean something. The current crop fail miserably.

so that's it. when you'll find your "great and meaninful" names just submit them to replace our bad bad bad names. We're all making this by the rules and yet you complain. and its not a rush it's been 3 weeks since we discovered river 1 and ocean 1 and 2!

The problem for those of us who do feel like it is rushed, is that we don't need to name these things yet. Sure, you can rush to name them and be completely by the rules, but we're saying you should respect the wishes of those who would prefer to hold off a bit.

Ocean 1: Robboo Sea (or ocean)
Ocean 2: George Ocean (after the guy that looked over the sea and saw France)
Ocean 3: NKVD Ocean (after the guy trying to get this all done)

Using names of people is taking an easy way out to avoid having to really think about it. If we had picked a civ that most people could recognize the language of, then we could make up fake but convincing sounding names. Nobody is coming up with really creative names for things because we're stuck with a civ that most people know almost nothing about. It's also not helping that we haven't had significant events to name locations for.

All that said, and keeping in mind that I'm not the most creative guy in the world, here's my feeble attempt to slow this juggernaut by making a few real naming proposals.

River 2: [wiki]Placer[/wiki] Creek
River 1: Surrio River (anyone care to guess what this one means?)

Ocean 1: Surreal Ocean

In my civ II and civ III games, I gave my cities very useful names, like

north one or southeast three, but in civ IV it is not necessary.

Best regards,

yeah but people who doesnt want to rush anything should also respect those who wants to name things. like I said It's been 3 weeks since those discoveries...and yet our second city is not even named!

what negative aspect would it bring if a lake was named to this demo game? nothing forces you to use the name.

as for name used to names thing I didnt second them. well except for shattered but believe it or not I only saw that the one who proposed it name was Shattered...because they are in fact shattered.

also can I second more than one name?

I don't see any reason why the number of names an individual can second would be limited. :)

What if we named things the way it typically happens in RL? Someone starts using a name for a place, and if the people like it they use that name too.

The 2nd city's name has been ready for a poll for a long time now. Someone just needs to post "last call for names" in the thread, wait a while, and post the poll. Or just skip to the poll given how long it's been since the thread was updated.
