We have most of the world mapped out. We have met every other major civilization on the planet. We have even initiated trade across the vast oceans and fostered communications with people a world away.
And yet... we don't have names for anything! It's high-time we decide on what to call the two major continents on our planet. Besides the fact that referring to the two as either "our continent" or "the other continent" is getting real old real fast, I think it would enhance the feel of the game and add a layer of depth to distinguish between the continents.
Of course, having said that, I have no idea what exactly to name them. I have a few ideas, as I'm sure everyone else does, but I think this is an issue we need to discuss thoroughly. Afterall, we don't want to end up like the "Americans" and get named after an explorer nobody's ever heard of.
My (oh so humble) suggestion is that we name our continent Kyouri (Japanese for birth-place), and name the other continent Hebishumyaku (which means, very roughly, Snake-like mountain range; because it's pretty snake-like and pretty mountainous).
Of course, my opinions don't mean anymore than anyone else's, and anyone who has an idea is welcome to post it. I think it'd be really neat if we had names for the continents (maybe even the oceans, too, when we see more of them). Afterall, what fun is mapping the world if you don't get to name it?
