The National Parks mechanic is one of my favorite minor aspects of the game, but I think they are really poorly executed. Does anyone else think it's weird that they can only be bought with faith? This doesn't seem to be a balancing mechanic. as I don't think they could be abused if they were built like Archeologists or Spys. I think it's really annoying that in order to really utilize national parks I have to develop an entire faith infrastructure. Plus it doesn't make sense with the real world, either.
Further, I think they should be better anyway. Maybe yield a science/culture or two on all tiles within the park?
As they are I think there is rarely a reason to even bother with them. But there seems to be so much more that could be done with them both for improved game mechanics and to give them a greater sense of realism.
Are there any mods out there (I've yet to see any) that make them buildable or better in any way? Would making a mod for these things be difficult?
