Hello! I'm a long-time lurker, but this is my first post on the forums, so I apologize if this thread belongs somewhere else. I looked for a bug report section of the BNW forum but couldn't find anything.

So last night I went random and rolled Askia. Because of the combination of his UA and UB, I decided that it might be fun to go for a wide religious zealot kind of play style. When I got around to establishing my pantheon, I wanted something that would generate a bunch of faith for me, but most of the good things like Desert Folklore were already taken. However, just barely to the south of me was Sidon:c5citystate:, and they had the Grand Mesa NW within their borders. I was already building a really big army for the triple gold out of barb camps and had also opened honor, so I decided to take the +4 :c5faith: from natural wonders pantheon, and took Sidon.

However, the Grand Mesa isn't yielding any faith for me so essentially I wasted my Pantheon belief. I ended up getting my religion up anyway and taking some good beliefs, but I could have had it in like a quarter of the time had the pantheon belief worked. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Does Sidon have your pantheon yet? I think that's a prerequisite for the belief to kick in.

Oooooh... Nope, they don't. I've used a similar strategy in the past but built my second city near the NW, and the city that I built got my pantheon automatically, so I guess I was just assuming it would work for taking the city too. Thanks for the reply!
