I waste so many faith points on Naturalists. This last game I kept sprawling fields and forests clean and untampered with to get that coveted white diamond and 5 era score points...Nothing. Can I check the land favorability map to see if there's anything I can use BEFORE buying a naturalist?

i wish this also. It's not an easy thing to figure out. I hate to buy one just to see if I can use it.

I guess make a save and buy one and reload when you can't use it.

Yes, you can use the "Appeal" lens and look for areas with bright green / breathtaking (it is a little confusing since there is a similar green for charming).
Don't forget that to actually use the naturalist you might need to swap tiles so they are all in the same city.
Usually a triangle (EDIT: diamond) of three mountains and one land tile will do the trick.
You could also remove or add improvements to get what you need. (Add forest for additional appeal, or add city park from Liang to adjacent tile, remove mine from adjacent tile, remove all improvements except road from a tile you actually want to be in the national park.)

Worry not!

Just use the mod "more lenses". It includes a naturalist lense to see all potential locations of national parks. Another oversight from firaxis fixed by our brave modding communiy!

I'm needed somewhere else, now flyyyyy:hide:

clear rainforest, and marsh, stay away from flood plains, and plant forests?

i agree, access to the white diamond would be nice though.

Mountains are usually the best bet. Note that all tiles have to be owned by the same city - so you often have to 'swap' tiles between cities to get the park.

Use the appeal overlay to look for spots.

I believe the hotkey for the appeal lens is the 3 key. Just look for 4 tile green diamonds.

Also, just in case you didn't realize - you ARE allowed to improve those forest and field tiles because you can always have your builders remove the improvement later on (and it doesn't even cost any builder charges). Feel free to put lumbermills or farms down in places you think you might one day build a national park so that you're not sacrificing yields while you wait for naturalists to unlock.
