Please, if someone in Firaxis/Atari read this change Carrack name to NAU.

If we Port are doomed to have a ship, at least give it a name we will enjoy. It's our UU and Carrack seems a awfull word in Port and Nau made us so proud of it taht don't deserve to be treated that way.

Come on, it's just a name change.
I'm not complayning about anything more because from what I have seen (I still would like to have access to the GLs names) this is clearly the thing you HAVE to change. Please!!! :(

CARRACK > NAU

Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase!

(I just hope you have made some changes in Naval stuff to made it usefull. I'm trusting on you here. :goodjob: )

BTW, great work guys.
From the chat log I'm dying (not literally... ;) ) in antecipation :goodjob:

It is just a name. Nau sounds a lot weired than Carrack. It is just a name so change it yourself, just go to the editor, don't change the map or any other rules only the name and you can still play random maps and chose whatever size or terrain temperature before starting.

Carrack sounds cooler.

Carrack sounds good to me. Its english word for nau, so what are you complaining. I cant understand.

I don't know how NAU is pronounced, but it looks like "now". :) Besides, it would probably sound wierd to the English speaking world.

"Our now has sunk an enemy frigate!".

Yeah

I discovered today where the hack Carrack is come from.

With the Iberian ruling the world with NAU (and Nao, in Spa), Tudor respond with Carrack (in Port it is CARRACA), being Carrack a possible English UU...

It seems it was lighter and without the typical 32 cannons Nau use to have, closer to the water (an idea of King João II, or John II).

If the purpose is to give Port that ship, then Carrack is acceptable as an International word, but if the idea is to give Port the right one, Nau is the one.

Sorry for the "now" sound (thinking of that, it will be funny :D ), but it is the correct way to call it. Just like in my Port UU poll...

Waiting to see my askings attended, Ricardo Magalhães

PS: check the link in my sig's last smiley (the hammer one)

The problem is not the name itself, the problem is that is not the same boat, It is from same type but is not the same.

But if the game has a true drawing of the boat and the name is Carrack it will be a minor error. The major error, that we all want to avoid, is if they draw a Carrack instead of a Nau. (for more information go to Port UU thread or click at the hammer in Portuguese signature).

Why no one from Firaxis/Atari responded to the NAU question ???
We don't ask to have a port UU with a Portuguese name, we are asking for a historical unique unit from Portugal .... And the Carrack was used by us as many other ships. The emblematic ship was the NAU (for this kind of ships).
We had others like the barca, a little boat that went to explore the west cost of Africa.

But, it seams that we are to small to atract Firaxis/Atari attention :(

As a brazilian I want to say that calling the NAU carrack would be a great mistake. NAU is cool. We don´t call the samurai ´´Noble Warrior´´, or the Panzer ´´Armor´´; respect the original name!

considering that a ship very similer to the Nau was called, in antive Portugese from what i gather, a "Carraca" the angelized version of "carraca" should not be so hard to accept, and while I feel your pangs of injustice, we dont know for certain if it was the Carraca, or the nau that they besed the unit on- after all, if the based it the carraca, in name and design, then there is no problem...
