Naval Commanders

There are multiple tech solutions for a path to frigates. But I fear the fastest is to simply over-tech stuff again, since we'd have to wait for Saladin to get to friendly I think before we'll trade stuff like that treb-maker thing...

In 6 turns we'll have our Taj golden-age, we should switch into Hindu + Theo, but I'm not sure how long that would take to get him to pleased. Maybe we can gift him stuff to speed up the process? We should think on this a bit.

Ok hows this... if we go Guilds --> Banking --> Ecconomics we can beat the others to the Free Merchant. Also, we would have just enough time to also time that with the golden age to get a free civic switch into +1 TR.

At that point, we may be friendly with Izzy or Sal, and can trade for Engineering, meaning we then go gunpower + Frigates...

I'll try to take a peek but no guarantees.

Guilds->Econ is good, we can use the GM for either a cash bomb, save for Sushi or trigger another GA (although we might as well wait to grab MoM for that).

Mousoleum is in Amsterdam. Anyhow, if we run a GA it will take 2 great people to do it. I'd rather wait until I get an artist first, before I think of burning stuff on golden ages. I'd definitely settle our priest now, instead of have him waiting around just to burn him at a later date.

I'm also never a fan of wasting GMs for cash.

Good circumnavigation, almost there!

Didn't know we had a GP... obviously settle.

2-3 extra cities would pay off very good dividends short time for beakers... seeing as we have to research everything ourselves!

Any city right now will get 13C right off the bat and cost maybe 8~9 gpt overall on the empire.
Obviously, capturing them is even better but if we find the hammers to put at least 1 down it'd be a good time to do so...
We aren't in any danger of losing TM (but then we're delaying juicy civics...)

I suggest using a galley-bridge to move missionaries, we're losing 1 turn of spread by only taking 1 galley at a time. (not needed in ~2 turns when galleys get 4 movement though...).

We could sell Compass to Sury for his gold... his Worst Enemies we don't really care about, they're far and not very dangerous. We're almost Friendly with him as well so maybe we get lucky and can trade for Engineering!

There was something else I wanted to say but I seem to have forgotten... :crazyeye:

 The worst is that it still takes time for me to read in english so I nearly had a heart attack reading Obsolete report

switch in FM: I think state property would be way more usefull to kill oversea AIs (vassals aren't turned off right?). This way we aren't forced into redundant research also. I agree a merchant is cooler than a spy though.

Will have a look at the save now... who is up Obs?

edit: guild -> bank -> eco looks fine (financed by Sury gold as Kossin said) but it still delay the warmongering. HE goes where? (think it's better to build it in a suboptimal site than further delaying it). We can go for Moai/HE combo too...

We're almost Friendly with him

Not for long, we will switch to Hindu as soon as our Taj golden Age starts... He won't like the opposing religion.

RRR, Hero epic is best in Parthenon city, keep dumping overflow into it.

Anyway, it doesn't matter who goes next, just that someone goes next :P

If we could get 10K from a GM, then maybe it's worth it, but I don't think that is going to happen. There is a way (I forget now) to check on how much gold you will get from a city before you actually run the mission. Julius has the ToA I believe that would give a bonus, I am curious how much his capital would return now.

Well....one of you two step up and make a run through to the end of Banking?

Or, I'll have to take matters in my own hands and do yet another run again (not that I don't mind).

BTW, I generally prefer to conquer cities instead of settling them on these islands. The AI builds infra so much cheaper than we do, let them do all the work...

With the merchant selected, shift+rightclick on the destination city (keep holding the shift key down) and the mission icon should show up in the action bar, hover the cursor over it and the amount will appear. I'm pretty sure Tatran's example was from a marathon game - you just don't see anything like that on normal (or even epic). I'd guess no more than 2K:gold:.

Very little to report... just visiting cities for whips and micro and trading some with AIs.

GT and HE completed.

JC the idiot is STILL in war-mode... what the heck is up to?

Nobody is remotely close to Education so Economics is easily ours.
Fred is willing to trade Engineering but it will cost us... Nationalism likely.

Spoiler :

The coast tile you see in above screenshot gained 1 turn of growth... 1 extra pop turn under GA is better than 1 less turn of coast ;)

And the idiot upgraded all his triremes to caravals... ???

Anyhow, I don't have a problem trading nat to Frederick for his 40g, theo + eng.

RRR can you do the next set for the evening?

Alright, no word from RRR, so I'll jump in for a quickie...

Be back with my (disastrous) report in a bit....

Alright, played only FOUR turns (to pop the next great person).

Since we only had a very short time to take advantage of Org, I whipped a harbour & university in parthenon. Now we don't have to worry about it later and they work for us every turn.

I also built the Hindu Mir in the capital, so feel free to trade away the marble now, as we don't need it anymore for the rest of the game.

Stupid Julius ended up using a spy to sabotage one of our farms, haha. Good thing I forgot to build cottages again!

Izzy again asked for rediculous demands (education this time). Well, we will rape her soon enough, just after Julius gets his whole navy wacked.

Anyway, not only did we win the free merchant at the end of ecconomics, but we also popped one as well on the dame freiken turn. So now we have TWO great merchants. Not sure what you want to do with them now. But 98% of the time I just settle.

Anyhow, our capital is as strong as an empire so be very careful with over-flow. I suggest put 1 turn into the customs house, then next turn put the jewish Monastery at the top of the que to work it from scratch (we'd get around 15 extra beakers with the monastery).

I forgot to mention, Saladin has us beat with AP votes by just 8, however since Izzzy will always vote for him he'll win anyway. So vote for him to get at least the +2 diplo on the next election.

Got it for this evening. (You really are a civ junkie Obs hehe :p). Settling GMs look good enough (nearly put us in the green at 100% slider)! I wouldn't mind saving one for a quick upgrade to amphibious rifles.

edit: hehe somebody couldn't resist Sankore it seems...

Yes I was going to mention, if you settle those two, we will get another 20 gold a turn when we finish the bank, etc. and can stay in the green close enough. Also, they'd return us +2 food so we can run ANOTHER specialist free without really any penalty.

Furthermore, they will probably let us get to rifling more earlier, so we can build/whip rifles a bit earlier, saving the money we'd want to upgrade anyway.

What bugs me about Egypt, is despite we could knock her out in 2 turns with Frigates, I have a suspicion she will FRIENDLY VASSAL to Saladin before we even get to attack.

Anyhow, once we take her 2 cities we will have a strong majority on the AP and can take total control of it.
