Chieftain
I am playing my first full game on regent, and I am in pretty good position to wipe out the AI by 1600 or so. I have just discovered calvary, and I have the AI on its heels. I am discovering every 4 turns, so I should get steam power in 10 turns or so, leading to railroads. I have two workers per square in a line from the front line, all the way to my capital (about 40 squares worth). That adds up to ~80 workers. Since I want my spacebar to last more than the next couple days, I decided to fortify all the workers (all possible improvements have been made to each city). My question is, is there a way to "unforitfy" all workers at once, instead of right clicking on each square twice to activate them all? Same goes for my army, it is fortified in one city until I decide to attack again.
Some tips...
I am usually not the warmonger, but here is one for that type. I am finding out during my first warmongering conquest that it is best NOT to raze a city when you take it over, as the AI will be there in no less than 5 turns it seems with a settler. Unless you have a settler ready to rebuild a new city, occupy the city. I would rather turn all city improvements on auto (if there is corruption to the point you are only getting 1 shield/turn) and forget about that city than to have another AI city to wipe out. It also serves as a great "storage" city if you have Sun Tzu's and you are playing the warmonger. Units will completely heal in one turn.
Going back to some earlier posts about the best civs to play with, I think the Germans are a bit underrated. My first game on Civ3 was with Germany, and I won with Military victory on Cheiftan (again, I am not a militaristic player. I hardly ever fought in Civ2 until I got howitzers). The key was the German UU Panzer...it kicked some serious ass. You are basically receiving a tank with 3 speed (I think) at a time where the AI is just discovering calvary. I built maybe 5 calvary before panzers, and ending up disbanding them (I don't know why, I was new to war). I got beaucoup leaders and won in the 1700's. I think my next game might be at Monarch with the Germans to see if I can duplicate.
Anyway, any help on the multiple unit thing would be appreciated.
