I can't understand why the enemy nations.
when i begin a war on one nation , all the other nations suddenly turn
against me !!!  then i have the whole world on me!!!
it's as though they think i'm a blood thristy king that taking down right away. and it's not easy making peace again ...
has anyone got answers to this ?

MPP = Mutual Protection Pact This becomes available through Nationalism. At any rate...check your foreign advisor(F4) with the MPP box checked to see who they have MPP with. Basically...someone correct me if I'm wrong...its always a good idea to beat other civs to MPPs. Also...there are ways to break MPPs between other Civilizations :) Diplomacy is great in this game and I always use it to my advantage. Anyways...yeah...check their relations with your Foreign Advisor before doing anything later you may or may not regret :P

Establishing embassies makes the other nations less aggressive and less likely to declare war on you. Also, try to trade a bit to improve your world relationship.

Here's a way to get around the mpp

Let's say Babylon and Persia has a mpp,
and they are the secound biggest civ's (after you).
Babylon has some Rubber you badly want,

here's how u get that!

Sign a mpp with persia, then get babylon mad at you!
after he's furius at you, do a spy mission and fail it!!!
he will then be at war with you.

Since persia have a mpp with you and babylon
and babylong decleard war on YOU.
persia will then declair war on babylon.
If babylon has mpp with more then 1 civ.
get mpp with the non agressors among them.
so the mpp will not likly turn on you.....

The AI likes to be a bully in this game. If you are weak or at least, weaker than they are, they often demand tribute and/or declare war. In my opinion, the AI doesn't care about its reputation because I find them often breaking ROP agreements, trades, etc. in favor of declaring war. I wish they would come begging for peace, however, after they get virtually obliterated and their civ is down to 1 city or something. It's odd that they often won't ask for peace or take your offer... especially if you offer peace in exchange for fascism or communism or something like that. It's like they absolutely REFUSE to give those away.

Here's a scenario for you: suppose you've gone as far as you can, gobbled up as much land as possible, without declaring war. It's early Middle Ages and you're king of the hill, but not by much. You want to solidify your position as hegemon, but everyone else wants to gain too. So you have to be smart in declaring war. Don't go after the second place guy yet. Go for the fourth or fifth place guy, and get the second place guy to sign a military alliance against him. If #2 is reluctant to declare war, bribe him. Do whatever it takes to get another big dog on your side. Unload some petty gifts on uninvolved nations to make sure they STAY uninvolved. If you the AI ever starts to gang up on you, give away whatever it takes, short of cities, to keep your aggressors to a minimum. Remember that if your position is tenuous, it's a lot easier to regain gold and tech superiority than it is to reclaim half a continent.
