Need help to canceling a trade

I'm a new user of Civ 3. I've done some searching in the forums and haven't found an answer to my problem...

Problem:
I have several trades that have eclipsed the 20 turn mark. My opponents cancel the trade whenever they want after 20 turns - -sometimes it will last 30 turns + --- and then they demand more for their luxuries or for the MPP or ROP.

I can't figure out how to cancel the trade after 20 turns. Bascially, I'm stuck with the trade as is until they decide to cancel it. Can anyone help me out here?

Open up the trade screen, as if you were going to start a new trade. At the bottom of the pop-up, there should be a blank space, 'New', and 'Active'. Click on active. This should show you the active deals. Simply click on the active deals that you want to cancel, and they will be cancelled. You might have to confirm after 20 turns, but I know you do before 20 turns.

Yeah I remember it took me a long to find that 'active' button, also in the foreign advisor/f4 screen if you go to 'details' beside resources and treaties it'll tell you the details of you trades/alliances. If there isn't a number beside it, then it's 20 turns has expired.

Another thing: In the game preferences, there is an option to "always renegotiate deals". If you turn this on, any deals that are 20+ turns old will automatically pop up.

IIRC, you need the 1.29f patch tho.

Go to preferences and select "renegotiate trades"

Not all per-turn trades get renegotiated, for some reason. Maybe its when you get a lump sum up front, so they're not giving to you every turn.

Be advised on the renegotiate pop-up: A deal that is ok can suddenly become out of the question if you try to propose an alternative. I think it is a bug in that interface. Keep that in mind if you really want the deal to keep going. However, if you continue a deal that makes the AI is go broke or loose lux/res then they will attack you!
