Hello all,

I'm totally confused because some people have a broken tech tree when playing my mod (Hulfgars Modpack).

I added only 4 techs (in the industrial or modern era) and the tech tree is always working fine on my PC, so I don't see how to fix something that don't look to be broken. As a matter of fact not every user has this bug.

If somebody has an idea of what could break a tech tree I would be very thankfull !

Pretty much anything CAN break the tech tree. If, at any point during the generation of the tech tree it hits a unit, building, improvement, etc. that it can't correctly draw the button for (in TechButtonInclude.lua), it'll break the whole thing.

It's possible that the people it's broken for are trying to combine it with some other mod, and the combination is screwing things up. For instance, my own mod adds some extra functionality to the tech tree, to where it'll now also place icons for things like the Worker speed increase, naval visibility increase, policies unlocking, promotions unlocking, tech-based yield increases (using real icons and not just the stupid star), and so on. But no tech can have more than 5 icons or else it breaks, so depending on the combination of mods, this could cause bad things to happen.

i have a bugged tech tree but i have the Have Fun mod help me on it...
So far i've had Laws, Bronze Work, and Civil Rights (the one with the pikemen) on the tech tree there but can not select it...If i didn't catch those things in time my game would likely crash...and probaby still can...

If the HaveFun mod hasn't been updated since the most recent set of patches (and since the last edit date on the first post in that thread is February I'd bet it hasn't), then it probably won't work, period; too much was changed in the March patch, and the two additional patches since then. A broken tech tree is just one of the ways this could manifest.

All mods are like this. Things change in the game, and modders need to keep things up-to-date. If you're using a mod that's no longer being supported by its original creator, you're often just out of luck.

the mod still somewhat works in certain places... Thats what i'm hoping for it to be updated...

On April 28th on the creator of the mod said
This mod is an independent UI and is compatibile with any mod and any game version.

Yeah, but that's just not how it works. There have been two major patches since April, one of which involved major changes to the internal workings. There's no such thing as a mod that'll be compatible with any version, period. And even UI mods will be incompatible with many other mods, so the part about it being compatible with all other mods is just wrong.

the other mods that hasn't been updated is the smoothpack and Super Cities...As i use that still.

so far no crashes loaded great still with the almost no access with those techs but i'm figuring things out...
