Welcome to CFC! :band:

Are you running the game as administrator?

Did you install/patch the game by right-clicking on the setup files and selecting run as administrator?

Not installing by running as administrator in W7 causes a variety of problems due to lack of permissions (eg: in your case to write to the .ini file). If you did not do so, it would be best to uninstall then re-install using that method.

Hey there, tried to install the entire game from vanilla to BTS and patches with administrator rights, but problem still exist, do you think is because the CPU is not running on x86 structure? (i5 is nehalem, which is a bit different)

Anyone eles have the same problem?

I have an i7 and run W7 64 and do not have the problem.

Are you running on an administrator account?

Where has it put the savefiles and .ini files?

Are the properties on the ini files read only? If so remove the read only and make sure it stays that way after re-booting. Your changes to graphics settings etc should then be saved.

In what way can the game not load saves? Are these old saves or saves you create?

Hey there, my ini files are all in my games folder, and I run everything as administrator.

As for loading saved files, the game simply refuse to load at all. i have no clue why.

Are these games you have just saved, ie: save game, then immediately try to load it?

Have you had the warning that your computer does not meet the minimum specs? It obviously does, but your processor is too new for Civ to realise that. That warning will reset the graphics settings to minimum, but you hide it in the .ini file. If you don't get the min spec warning and your .ini file is not set to read only, try setting it to read only once you have the settings you want in it.

Hey man, Thanks for staying with me, yes, the graphic and sound settings will always reset to minimum everytime civ starts, and the game refuse to load saved files, the loading screen simply does not appear at all. I have no idea why.

Recently I ve read a few post saying that Civ on Chinese based system have faced problems such as that, but my windows is English except I use Chinese very often... I don't know if language is causing the problem.

Last night I patched my copy of CIV: IV BTS to 3.19. All of a sudden I couldn't load my games, and a game that I was goofing around with, with the "chipotle" code enabled I couldn't access the cheats. I uninstalled everything from Vanilla to Warlord to BTS and now nothing will play. To top it off, I can't even access the all the contents in the CIV 4 folder. The default folder for me is Program files (x86). But when I get in there, I can't change the hidden or the read only tabs, I can't change the compatibility options. I don't know what else to do.

My dxdiag is:
