My current pc is amd athlon 2500+, 1gig ddr ram, GE force 4600TI.

I like playing huge maps. But with my current comp, even everything set at low, the game is unplayable approaching modern age. I don't mind game getting slow. But the game crashs, stop responding too often, makes it unplayable.

my question is if I change to a newer video card will the game be at least playable. I'm thinking of buying either MSI AGP GF7 NX7600GS-TD256 256M BOX 7600GS or SAPPHIRE AGP RAD X1600PRO 512M TVO LITE, both same price.

If better video card helps, which of the 2 above is better?

I had athlon 1800, 768md ram, geforce 5200le. Slow, even at low-res. Upgraded to geforce 6600gt 128mb. Very nice. Peppy, even at hi-res. Your video choices might be over kill, but either one should make you much happier.

out of the two I'd go for the 7600. I I've heard that the x1600 pro isn't too good and would compare to a standard 6600.

Weras the 7600 will be on par with the 6800 if not slightly better

In all honestly unless you're going to keep hold of your current hardware for more than a couple of years, go for the cheaper option. Why? Because soon there will be no AGP or PCI option on video cards, it will over time it will all go to PCI-e. So when it comes to the next upgrade you may find yourself needing a completely new motherboard, making your shiny new 7600GS pretty worthless and somewhat of a waste of money. Just something to consider...

I have the 6600 (upgraded from FX5200) and it's good enough to handle the game on medium settings with a couple of performance tweaks through the nvidia control panel and the BIOS setup.

I suggest more ram and ati 9600 pro my pc runs fine with ATI 9600 pro 256mb and amd athlon 3700 64 and 2 GB ram

Try Ebay plenty of new cheap ATI 9600 cards on there
