I know, I BMC'd about my last game where the world was totally chaotic. This time, it's boring. Build, build, build. No conflict. I've got trades with everyone except Abe. Greece and Persia have an MPP. I wanted to beat up on Greece, but the two together would be a bit too tough.

Germany is at war with America, and I have an explorer over there and there is absolutely no fighting going on. What gives?

I think I might build about 9 transports and go raze a civilization for the hell of it. Nothing over there worth keeping. Corruption would be way out of hand.

But this AI is getting me PO'd. Persia and Greece went and plunked down a couple of cities that are surrounded by 3 cultural powerhouses. The buggers won't flip.

I guess it's hurry build the UN and get a diplomatic victory to end this game.

:( been there, done that! The AI has no drive to win (like taking over all other AI, then going for the human - problem: OCN!!!), but rather will try to keep the human from winning, and once you are too srong, they just stumble on and will declare ridiculous wars at a ridiculous time :(

And that's one reason why the AI is inherently and fatally flawed - it has been incorrectly programmed to "think" in the wrong way and for the wrong purpose.

It kind of started from the beginning. My first settler plunked down on a bonus grassland tile next to a river. The hills were two deep on the south, bonus grassland and cows to the east, forest and bonus grassland to the west. Everything two tiles deep. Three gold bonus resources in the hills and iron. I irrigated four of the flat grasslands, and mined everything else. This baby is pumping out shields like no tomorrow. My second city is in the same situation on the opposite side of the valley, except gems, coal, and iron in the north. It too is pumping out shields like no tomorrow.

I'm on Monarch level and have gotten every wonder except the Great Wall. I went to Republic early. When England attacked I went to Monarchy and beat the hell out of them, then switched back -- religious civs are cool. I bought Democracy early from Egypt. I had my infrastructure set. I beat up England then went to Democracy. Now I have 5 oil resources, 6 coal resources, 6 rubber resources. No nation wants to piss me off. I get tanks next turn.

I'm cranking out infantry in two turns in 6 cities, and can handle another 40 units. I'm going to either get a diplomatic victory, or a space victory easily. I'd have a cultural victory but I turned it off.

I think I'll just build up my military and go raze Germany. Germany has no rubber. America has no oil. Egypt has the oil but no rubber. But I know Persia will attack if I attack America, since I'd have to send about 60 units overseas to do it.
