Dude, those are like all the same question i have aswell,

another question which related alot like yours it when i goto change all plots to like grass, ONLY the ocean (or coast which ever it is) changes the current land just stays there.

anohter thing i seem to notice it i was going to just start a huge random map go into world builder just to build the map but it does not let me see the entire map untill I explore the map inside the game first. i mean every time i move my expolore to the edge of the map have he it does the map expand and i keep moving him the edge again and it keep expanding. now this really is not a bad thing i will just wait till the end of the game to start make my map but it does some alittle odd, should this be happening?

I know the Civilization IV is supposed be the most modable civilization so far and with the python and XML and the SDK i think it is but man, the map editor it just either very weird or just buggy.

I found sort of the same solution to being able to access other parts of the map while in edit. Scroll as far to the edge that you can, then place a unit..any type works..I was using scout. You can then scroll further, place another scout when it stops and keep repeating till you can scroll all over the map.

On a huge map I needed 6 or so to do that. Then you can start editing the map, including removing your scouts you placed. Once you have access to the remote areas, you always will.

I covered the entire map with ocean but found that the ice caps remained. So to remove them, you must overwrite them with some type of land then go back and use the Change all plots to ocean if thats what you want or just leave it grass. Thats the only way to remove all the polar areas that I could find.

Then I saved the map as a blank ocean template that I could then modify to whatever. It took me a while, but I'm getting the knack of it. Too many work arounds though to get something pretty simple accomplished.

well unless they patch world editor or someone makes a decent world editor for civ 4 i will just use GIMP and just paint on the map for 1 pixel per plot( i use a pic 120 X 80 for huge or whever size the other maps are) and edit the notepad.

Just to clarify, it appears there is bugs in the World Builder (it is definitely sounding a LOT different to the state of the WB when I wrote the manual). Hopefully it will be fixed in the first patch.

Patience my young apprentices. :)

well the cheat code helps with being able to see the whole map but the when doing add ocena to all tiles the outline of the land it still there. i really don't care if the first patch fixs the world builder problems along as it fixes the memory leak problem. hell maybe you should have just released the beta version of the world builder, seemed to work fine for you.

The funny outlines of the continents (if you zoom out to globe view only the old land shows too) is a funny characteristic of the WB. Trust me when I say when you actually play the scenario it isn't there, everything is as it should be. :)
