Needed Capabilities

Not having the game yet, I've already been planning a major mod to the game by adding many of the Alpha Centauri techs, wonders, etc. to the end of Civ4's tech tree. Since the wonder movies have already been made, and AC already included voices reading the quotes for each tech (they're not Leonard Nimoy, but they'll do), it'll be relatively easy. At present, I'm looking at adding 34 techs, each with 2-3 benefits (units, improvements, wonders, resources, specialists, etc.); about 2/3rds of these are from AC, the others are new ones I've created.

However, this causes some problems. Specifically, there are some capabilities that are needed for this mod that probably won't exist in the core Civ4 game, and will require more experienced programmers to mod. So, I wanted to create a thread where people who need certain capabilities for units or improvements could make requests.

> I need the capability of all-terrain units. Specifically, antigrav units that can move over both land and water without needing to refuel at a city.

> Magtubes are like the Civ3 railroad, completely unlimited land movement. In Civ4 railroads are capped at 10 squares, but I need the upgrade to be unlimited.

> The Psi Gate. In AC this was just the Civ3 Airport's ability, but I want the Jump Gate (no psi involved) to do this without costing a full turn's movement, so that units can IMMEDIATELY move or attack from the destination. Maybe make it cost 1 MP. Fantasy mods will want this, too.

> Wonders that add to movement. That is, the Cloudbase Academy might add 2 to all air units' movement/range and give one free promotion to all new air units. The Maritime Control Center might do the same for naval units. The +move for sea units was in Civ3, but I'd like to see the same added for air units, or even for land units at the end.

> Planet Busters. In AC, these were just the Civ3 nukes. The concept I want for the PB is an ICBM that utterly destroys everything in a single square (units, cities, improvements), converting its terrain to uninhabitable wasteland (no benefits, unimprovable). Graphically, I was thinking of the black sphere explosion from Akira.

> The Mobile Shield. Not from AC, this is more like that shield the Gungans had in Episode 1. Moves with your army, gives a +25% defense to every unit in the same square, and prevents any collateral damage from bombardment. Basically, by the end-game, I wanted to bring back the Stack o' Doom to counteract the ever-increasing defensive capabilities of cities (Tachyon Field, Flechette Defense System, etc.).

> Fungus would be a nice addition, but it'd require so many alterations that I'm putting it off for now.

> Psychic Combat would also be nice. It's simply combat where the unit's power is always 1 instead of depending on its weapons; all the other modifiers would still apply. That way, I could add the Neural Amplifier, Dream Twister, etc.

Everything else, I should be able to make do with tweaking the AC abilities to mimic the Civ4 stuff.

Any suggestions? Other people making requests?
