Wow,
A WTH moment that made me abort the game.
Turn 1: I have declared on Gilly and I am busy attacking Eridu with my swords from the forest tile 1NE. On that same tile Peter has an Archer. I end the turn without having conquered Eridu, but the defenders are badly wounded and the city will fall next turn.
Turn 2: Peter declares on me, and that apparently pushes my stack of swords away from Eridu into my own territory on to the stone. Then he moves on my capital. WTH! Haxxy AI!

well, if you are on the same tile as an AI unit with a DOW (either way), you will teleport. This is known. Just like if you were inside their culture and dow'd or closed borders.

Not sure your relationship with Peter prior to attack, but he was likely bribed in by Gilgs. Probably something to be aware of prior to attacking Gilgs. Try to look to get a Peace treaty or bribe him on someone else.

Surprised you didn't go for a two-pronged attack here looking to pillage that iron of his on the way. Eridu may have fallen quickly but his Vultures will make it tough for just swordsmen.

Yes, I know, It's just that you feel so cheated when you get pushed away like that. I guess I figured he could declare and step into my territory in the same move and let me stay in the forest. :)

I didn't have the forces to hit his iron at the same time since his capital is just next to it and I figured it would be well defended and capable of striking back. I lost enough swords at Eridu, so I think my calculation was right.

Anyway, I persevered, hit Peter's mini-stack, turned around to hit Eridu. Shortly after I began elepulting and now both Giggly and Peter are my vassals and the game is mine. Running away from the rest, going through the motions until victory.

Actually, caps can often be less defended once AIs settle other cities ..really depends. You could send a smaller stack or choke unit that way anyway as a decoy. Attacking multiple cities confuses the AI and causes them to send units out or any which way. This can be effective in any case, but especially when going non-siege attacks with swords or axes. Good job all the same.

How do you determine who will be teleported? It means why the player was teleportrd here and not Peter?

BTW:
Hague: working PH and plainforest? whip lib into axe
Amsterdam: switch to axe and tiles to max 4 production, whip axe to sword. It is war! All unimproved tiles should be transformed to units

Amsterdam is fantastic Moai city/unit spammer IN CASE Utrecht is placed better. Utrecht should be placed 1SW and became commerce center/ future cottage beauro capitol. And why leader starting with fishing has not both claims improved
