Brad
Revised notes: Siamese(neutral) no longer playable; razing no longer allowed; minor culture border adjustments; moderate beginning culture tweaks; Manila moved up and to left; US given less units & money, and some promotions taken from air units; all allied powers balanced to be playable; neutral and independent declare war on whichever team you pick (team 1=USA; team 2 =allies{players 2-6, 8-16}) except Israel(Genoa) and South Korea(Seoul) who are allied with US at start; a few name changes of cities.
Authors notes: Each turn meant to represent a day or two on marathon settings; welcome to the civilized age, your soldiers now refuse to completely raze any city, but the big red button won't refuse...
P.S. I have no comments on gameplay yet, to make a final map I will need anyone willing to point out any flaws they encounter when playing to me at b2warrior@gmail.com and one day in the future the final release will be much like a modern ciV and Axis and Allies hybrid, playable online multiplayer. Thank you, and enjoy!
P.P.S. Original alpha 1.4 note excerpts;
Game notes: US start with few good units, but many militia, most regular forces trapped on lifeboats out at sea, but have best economy, and start further ahead in tech tree; [factions are] US and Allies[UK{also controls Canada, Austrailia}+France+Italy+Russia+Germany+Japan+Chin a, India, Persia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Mexico]) , large stretch of atlantic(signifying increased mine laying and other defenses in the atlantic ocean; China has most people, but may be ripe target for american retaliation; Japan has shortest path to american land a very double edged sword; Egyptian are most poised to "pacify" barbarian african armies and colonize Africa; Russia has most land, and choice to attack America from east, west, or both, but is furthest away from further expansion in the Southern hemisphere; UK is strongest overall of the allies, but will likely come under heavy attack in Canada and the British Isles.
Map Notes: Vancouver is on Vancouver island a third of the way to alaska, the whole map follows rules of founding cities at least three plots away, so that no cities can ever fire on one another! ; many locations are best fits, and fairly fudged; pacific ocean is about 1/3 size(for middle eastern powers to reach US in reasonable time); enlarged north america and europe; very Picasso -like southern hemisphere, action meant to take place in the oceans in the north hemisphere, and in North America until US can turn the tide.
NO NUKES in the beginning, but build the manhattan project, find uranium and your in business. Back story-President Obama successfully negotiated nuclear disarmament, just in time for a near worldwide sneak attack New Year's Eve 2011. Now, pull together and rally to beat the world as USA, or play your favorite power and lead the allies to victory over the modern superpower! You'll only get one shot...
Made for epic and marathon, may want to nerf certain powers if playing faster games. This map is an excellent starter for any modern world scenario.
