if you like to play at low level, but you want some new challenges, this is a list of challenge that may be fun to play. They can be tried at higher level but some of them can be really difficult.

- Pisa Tower: bad construction = no wonder, especially interesting if you play a non-industrious civ

- Micronesia: no Great People, extension of the previous one, it means that you can't have specialist. The only GP authorized are the one given by tech, only if you don't have any other choice (this tech is the only one you can research). Note that you still can disbalnd them. Play it philosophical, industrious for more challenge

- no cottage: since commerce is the nerve of CivIV, no cottage is a challenge. You can still focuse on population and Hammers to get by. very interresting. Financial is particulary usefull in this game (since it gives more commerce), but less powerfull than with cottage. avoid it for more challenge. Hardest of the list

- no anarchy: my favorite one, no state religion, no civics. go on organized and spiritual. have fun

- Khazad-Dum: "you shall not pass" no open borders.

You can combine them but it will be very very hard even at settler level.

Don't hesitate to post your challenges
Tell me how fun you find them. Enjoy

Always Peace with only the conquest victory condition turned on. :D

Play on tiny islands and give all naval and air units a movement of zero.

The "no open borders" one isn't that challenging if you are playing at lowest level. You can beat the AI at techs just by putting enough resources into research. And it doesn't keep you from trading with other civs. You probably do need to found your own religion, though...

Will capitals culture flip? If so, this might actually be interesting.

I've never been able to flip one.

You may not develop any resources. The only exception is one (and only one) of the following: copper, iron, coal, aluminum, uranium. If you have made a copper mine, and you later want aluminum (for example), you must destroy the copper mine first.

Not a challenge I'd like to try, but someone might dig it.

Actually, it was an easier version of Cuban Isolationnist.
