One thing I think should change is how the city view is set-up, in civ 3 it is impossible to have more than a certain number of imporvements/wonders. Maybe there will always be a limit, but they shuld try to find a way to make it much higher so that it is not as likely you will run out of room.

I was told that Firaxis ran into this problem themselves when making C3C, and so they disabled the city view option. Dont have C3C so i dont know if thats true or not.

The limit I am talking about is the one for mods, im not saying that in standard game you will be limited.

Sounds great!

Only for scenarios.

Phoque no, the city view must stay! It's just a static map, it's part of the legacy like the palace. What's the big deal, with this "Ooo I want civ1 graphics, as long as the gameplay is good"

A big part of growth if figureing out what needs to stay and what needs to go. The City View either needs a huge rework or just needs to go. Since the first is use of precious resources for a marginal feature, lets just let it go. This also means adding a new version can be done wtih the future in mind, rather than traditional concepts of what the city view is. Good thing for part of an expansion pack.

The city view always seemed more of an aesthetic feature than anything else, I hope it's improved because I like it, and I'm betting its here to stay. :)

I recall Civ 1 alowed you to see improvements built, and when you got too many you heard a sound, but could not see where it was put. Which probably means there was a space limit, but it generally was well done; always rearanging them so they would fit. (Which was sort of a drag)

It would be cool to have a totally improved city view feature. Maybe it could expand as it grew to a certain size, or if it had a lot of improvments/wonders there. (Like spreading into surrounding terrain graphics of Civ3 for example) That would be a better indicator than 'five houses for a metropolis'

If we had to keep the city view(I say we dump it)......

The city view should be mostly houses, shops, and the sort. THere distribution would be determined by algorithims affected by how long certain techs have been around, improvements(which would be somewhat visible, but not gigantic except when they should be), population through time, culture, etc. Also, you could do a replay of hwo the city looked through time, seeing it grow in turn-laspe. However this is a very involved feature but the only city view worht having. So it would be better left to an expansion and have city view left out of Civ 4. Soemtimes you have to left go.

I wouldn't be disappointed if the city view were ditched.

I just love seeing wreckage in a conqured city..all that destructive ruin :) too bad it all disappears after you leave the city pane

If they leave out the City View, It would mean I would have an easier time Modding am I not right.

I would like to keep the city view. However it really should take into consideration the actual terrain features in and around the city. It seems that their are only a few patterns with a wonder or improvement tossed in here or there. Make the city view more relative to the actual city.

That's if they have time to work on it. There are more important things I'd rather see changed first. I'd really hate to see it go though.

Perhaps they could let modders have the option of turned-off city view...

I myself would advice of mixing city view and city status window (what to build, what is available in city, how much corruption et al.). That would make it useful again.
(It's not my task to provide details... :))

and now hit me.
