I just ordered Civ.III off line and directly downloaded it onto my hard drive.....problem is, I didn't get any instruction manual with the game...normally I'd just say screw it, i don't need it....but I keep getting my ass kicked and could use the help....i don't know what some of the buttons do..etc....does anyone know where I can download a copy of this or aquire one from another source? Thanks. I already emailed the place I bought it from and they were no help.

So I did some reading on this site and it turns out that the manual is crap? I guess I just find everything I need from here.......people seem helpful, so maybe i'll just fire questions this way as they come up....I've never played any of the Civs. before, so I am going look for some 'newbe' threads......whats a patch?

Just to satisfy my own curiosity, where did you buy it from? I know the publisher is experimenting with different sales routes, but I was unaware that you could download anything but the free Demo version.

Patches are fixes to the game - bug-fixes, feature improvements, etc. You can tell which version of the game you are running by looking at the lower left corner of the main intro screen (where you choose to start a new game, load a game, etc.). You should see something like "Version 1.07f". The latest version/patch is version 1.29f for Civ3. If that is your version, you are set. If not, the only patches I am aware of that you can download require you to have the CD in order to play.

I got the game from trymedia.com......so far no complaints about the transaction, very smooth. thanks for the advice, i'll check for a pdf.file
