i just bought a second computer, a laptop with win 2000 and with enough hardware to run XP. in fact it is better than my desktop. i have a couple of questions though.

1-do you suggest a move to XP? it is better than win 2000? i just do basic stuff from home surf email games etc.

2-the laptop comes with win2000 Coa (certification) but NO DISK
from the research i have done it looks like the UPGRADE would have to be XP pro, not XP home. if i but the XP pro upgrade will i be able to use that disk to re-install XP down the line if i ever need to. is there any problems to encounter since i do not have the win2000 disk in my possession?

3-would it better to unistall win2000, and buy the full version of Xp either home or pro?

4- does not Xp have a fiunction to format and re install that is quite simple? will the upgrade disk have that funtion?

5-is the a tuturial out there that takes you in steps how to make the upgrade?

thanks

Security is better in XP, for that reason alone I'd suggest upgrading.

I'm not sure on the XP upgrade question, but for system reliability reasons I'd suggest uninstalling 2000 and installing the full XP.

Not sure about the upgrade disk, but the full disk will be bootable and you'll be able to wipe 2000, delete the partition, recreate and format the partition, and then install XP on a clean drive.

I'd recommend some googling on that, I'm sure there's plenty of info out there.
