New Member and a New Mod

Alright, guys, I read the legal page on Blizzard's website and there is nothing in it that states we can't do what we're doing. Seeing as they don't have an e-mail address for their legal department and I don't feel like sending a letter to them, I say we go ahead with the mod. Don't worry, I'll take responsibility for the consequences since I'm the one who started this project ;) . If you want to know how I feel just read my sig.

Alright, since so far Scytale has provided the most help I'll ask him. Do you think it's worth continuing with this project?

EDIT: Hikaro, I'd like to hear your thoughts as well.

I definetly think it's worth continuing this project and I will try to help you the best way I can. I don't think Blizzard will ever find out about this and even if they do, I don't think they can do anything about it as this is a non-comercial activity and all the graphics we use will be made by the creators in this forum. So, unless Aaglo or any other great creator decides to sue us  , we have nothing to worry about ;) .

Thank you for the kind words but I've done nothing so far so wait till I get the map done ;) .

@Goldflash: We are not Blizzard (not evil), we just like the story ;) .

Those graphics look perfect for the Human Nations :goodjob: and now has me thinking of possible culture groups. I was thinking something along the lines of Human, Orc, Elf, Dwarf, and Evil(Undead and Burning Legion).

Scytale, you've done a lot in terms of giving ideas and helping me think of things I probably wouldn't have thought of otherwise(using the Gnoll as a mercenary never would have crossed my mind). Thanks to you and everyone else who has contributed something so far, it is all much appreciated.

EDIT: Btw, who do you guys think should lead the Horde, Thrall, Blackhand, or Orgrim Doomhammer.

If you need to rename it to avoid legal ramifications, could you call it, "Whorecraft"?

Good luck with it all either way, I'd like to play it.

"Whorecraft?" that's funny  . Maybe when we're done with this mod we could use that as a parody or something :mischief: .

As far as the leader of the orcs is concerned, I think Thrall should be the best choice as he was the leader that "united the clans".
I was thinhking for an alternative name for the mod too. How does "War for Azeroth" sound?

Sounds like a good alternative to the generic and bland "Warcraft mod" title.

Anyone else second Scytale's choice for Orc leader? Now for the next question, should the Orc capital be Blackrock Spire or Orgrimmar?

EDIT: I guess I should take this opportunity to tell you all that I will continually update the first post and unit list as necessary.

I don't remmeber what was the center of operations for the orcs but I think Blackrock Spire was more imporatant. Perhaps Ogrimar would make a good capital city for the chaos orcs?
I'm sorry my reply came so late but I have only 3 days left unitll my big exam and still 1000 pages to read. After I pass this I'll be more dedicated to the mod :) .

Blackrock Spire was their capital in Warcraft 1&2, but Orgrimmar was their capital after the defeat of the Burning Legion.

Good luck on that exam btw.

EDIT: Also, I PMed aaglo about maybe creating some units for us but I don't think he will so we have to figure out a way to get these units made(I tried my hand at unit creation with horrid results  ).

What do you think of creating a unit request thread like the Star Wars guys.

Btw, try and request units for the mod in Kinboats lottery. The more requests the better :) .

I think I just had a good idea about the whole Blackrock Spire-Orgrimmar thing; why don't we give Blackrock Spire to the Burning Legion(since it belonged to the Chaos Orcs of the first two games and they are going to be part of the Legion) and Orgrimmar will belong to the Thrall's Orcs.

Just posting to keep the thread alive and to inform you that I have completed downloading the units and I am proud to say that we only need two units made(aaglo, Kinboat, you guys are lifesavers :worship: ). Now I will start downloading leaderheads, city graphics, resource icons, ect.

For the Humans they should look something like medieval Europe with some fantasy-type structures thrown in. For the Orcs just a very crude and primitive style, almost like a nomadic tribe thing. The Elven cities should look well polished, graceful, and in-tune with nature(think Rivendell from LOTR). I believe there is already a city graphic for Dwarves so no need to describe that. Evil cities I think should look like ruined Human cities with some demonic looking structures. Why do you ask, are thinking of making city graphics for the mod?

They look really good varwnos :goodjob: ! As a matter of fact, with a little adjusting to make it look a little more fantasy-like, those Greek ones would look really good for the Humans. As for the Mongol ones, those were almost exactly what I was talking about with the Orcs. Good job and thanks for the help ;) .

Ty :D

I have a few more changes to make, but they are mostly complete. They are supposed to be ancient greek but i guess that they can be used as fantasy human too, although if you have a specific suggestion i could make a different version just for your mod.

If it isn't too much trouble all you would have to do to make it specific for my mod is put something like a small castle/fortress in the center. Btw, I might also use that in the regular Civ game as a replacement for the other Mediterranean graphics(it really sucks that we can't have more than five culture groups doesn't it).

If Blizzard is really so cheap as some of you make it appear then to the nether regions of Hades with them - and just call the mod "Craft of War" :D
