New official nVidia Forceware drivers (81.94)

If someone tries them let us know if it improves anything with Civ 4 and if the map glitch goes away when zooming out.

It fixed the lines in minimap & globe view for me, don't get those anymore.. played a whole game, too.

Wonder movies still stutter and game still slows down over time requiring a reload, tho (well, unless you like sluggish response, mine is still playable it's just annoying).

When using 71.89 on my Laptop (GeForce FX Go 5200), the movies goes fine. Although it's still slow ... its playable.

The 81.94 drivers fixed minimap/globe horizontal corruption lines glitch for me, on a Athlon64/GF6800GT/WinXP system.

However, it didn't fix the constant hard lockups that I'm encountering :-P

there's no mention of civ iv in the release notes, but...

they do mention similar 'stuttering issues' and refer people back to 77.72.

OR...there are rendering issues with other games that they say will be fixed in next release. i guess if they don't specifically address civ issues, these might solve some issues.

My problem has been CTD every 2 min~2hr.

This did not fix it, although it seems to help minutely.

Come ON guys, where's our PATCH!?

I don't think I'll be trying any new nVidia drivers anytime soon. I played with 81.85 and 81.87 beta and besides crashing every 20 mins (as in at least requiring a reboot to even be able to launch civ4 again, if not a complete freeze) nothing good came out of it.
78.01 works fine for me (aside from some crashes to desktop which I am hoping the patch will fix).

" Brand spankin' new Forceware 81.94 released "

If your present nVidia drivers, of whatever version number they are, work fairly well (on your system), try out the new 81.94 at your risk & peril.

If the most recent drivers sometimes enhance performance for certain games, it also happens that they introduce new problems on certain systems for other games. It was the case for the October-released 81.85 drivers, as it has been very much reported on this forum.

Yes, but these are certainly better than the 81.85 version. "Upgrading" to 81.85 did cause me new problems, but 81.94 appears to have fixed them, and some texture problems I was having in 78.01.

im on the latest omega drivers, anyone know if this fixes that silly bread only bug? i guess i could try and roll back if it doesnt work, but tonight, i admit im feeling less like messing with things since i finally got mine running "ok" especailly with said patch comming in mere days

This driver worked for me. I got a new computer (I knew my old one wouldn't cut it, and it was time to upgrade anyway). Initially, it didn't work...I could get through the set-up, but when the game was set to begin, it would crash. I updated to this driver, and proceeded to enjoy four and a half hours of smooth, flawless game play last evening.

New driver seems to have improved stability somewhat, my large map game seems to be able to scroll around a bit more easily now.

The new drivers seemed to have sped things up for me as well: things running smoothly, and the animations are finally workign at a decent framerate on Large maps with 8+civs... hope the patch lets me play on Huge maps.

Doesn't everyone get it, if the game is having BSOD and CTD on both ati and nvidia its not graphics related. Its also obviously stated game has a memory issue, I've even seen it first hand. The game has a memory leak and eats up all your ram then it either BSOD or CTD. So one thing you can do is keep an eye on your memory usage and when it gets too low then shut the game.

I also run the game perfectly fine except for the memory leak causing BSOD and CTD, if not for that I think its runs 100% on my end and heres my setup and settings:
