New Player Dimensions

Another solution to the problem, which I have written about before, is to leave players (and the AI) 'up in the air' when it comes to the end date of the game-up to a point. Basically, once a certain number of civs reach the modern age, an end-game 'clock' is set in motion, with the game ending a random number of turns AFTER this point is reached. The ultimate winner will be the civ who has achieved the most number of victories-with demographic 'victories' deciding ties. If this were done, then a player would be much less certain about backstabbing another civ, as he doesn't know how much this will hurt his chances of achieving certain victories-given that he doesn't know how many turns he has in order to ACHIEVE this victories.
Anyway, hope this makes sense.

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.
