Yes it is ;D

I know bugger all about guns, but based on that second photo I posted, I find it hard to believe that this gun is going to make a practical individual weapon.
Like I said it will be issued one per squad, so it will be sort of a Squad Assualt Weapon like the M-249 or the M-60.

It is I, Hobbes!
This scenario sounds cool. here are some sneaky spy units if you want to use them:

I think the prototype incorporates all the fancy stuff they want to incorporate but they still have a huge problem getting it down to the specified weight (like the need to make it 2 kilos lighter).

So before the super gun is ready, what about this beauty?

The world's first assault rifle to have a built-in laser aiming device, SAR 21 integrates a full range of sophisticated sighting systems for accurate target acquisition under low-light conditions. Its built-in l.5X Optical Scope eliminates the need for zeroing while enabling quick and accurate aiming. For low light conditions, its Laser Aiming Device (LAD) with an infra-red or visible red dot option, offers almost instant reaction capability. In addition, the aiming sight located above the optical scope provides the backup iron sight for the soldier.

ok, enuf about guns and more about the scenario

I love this site Koby,

Here is the new Russkie gun I was talking about, http://www.world.guns.ru/assault/as08-e.htm

Here is the Barrett .50 cal. I talked about, http://www.world.guns.ru/sniper/sn02-e.htm

Along with the remington I talked about,
http://www.world.guns.ru/sniper/sn10-e.htm

I would also like to issue an apology to that Belgian dude. The P-90 is not a 9mm, it is a 5.7x28mm which is an excellent round. I hate to say it but it is probably the best round in the world right now, that is only my humble opinion though. Now, if I could just get my hands on one of those Five-Seven pistols I could die a happy man.:crazyeyes

Moving away from guns, http://www.fas.org/man/index.html has lots of information on wepaons systems planned for the next 10 years and is well worth a look.

Interestingly, there doesn't seem to be much development of new tanks going on. I guess this is an indication that the world's millitaries consider that large scale armoured warfare is unlikely in the next decade...

Also you'll want to include the F-22 Raptor, which is America's soon to be new fighter and they have also just given a contract out to a plane that will be used by the Marines and I think Army and Navy as well. Sorry, no links though.

Thanks for all your help people!

Good links all...

USA units will be (not a complete list)

Engineers

Infantry
Special forces

F16 (still a few...not buildable anymore though)
F22
JSF

B52
B2

M1A2 tank

Because technology will play a part in this scenario you can ofcourse research new units. The technology of exoskeleton will upgrade regular infantry, while adv. communication will upgrade the special forces. I don't know what the next line of fighters will be, but the B3 will be a researchable bomber.

Suggestions are welcome, especially about tanks and other vehicles and ships.

Here are my changed infantry units:
