OK, this is what I saw on GOTM14 of Civ2. Smash had done this game and had conquest in 2000 BC. He followed this strategy:
He didn't build a city, he just popped huts with the settler and while he didn't have one city yet there were no barbs coming but only money, techs and NONE units. With these units he attacked the opponent and just took their cities and conquered the world very fast.
I have tried this too in Civ1 but didn't succeed, not so many huts as in Civ2 and the number of NONE units seems to be lower too. Also the units I got were quite weak and just lost against any units defending the cities. I tried the strategy in Civ2 and really came a long way, I didn't finish the game but the strategy works in Civ2.
Has anyone tried this strategy in Civ1 already and did it work for you?
