New to SG -- Anybody willing to help?

I would like to play some SG's, but I must admit that I am a little overwhelmed by the plethora of talent in CFC. If there is anybody out there who would be willing to show me the ropes of the whole thing, I would love to not only play Civ 3 with some other people, but also learn more for my solo games. I am a Civ veteran, having now owned all three Civilizations, so I'm not a complete newbie or anything. Anyways, I'm including some pertinent information about myself:

Difficulty level: Currently playing Monarch with a good amount of success. I plan on playing at least two or three more successful games with differing variables before moving up to Emperor.

Version: 1.21f PTW

Time Zone: CDT (GMT - 6)

Availability: I can play every day for a good amount of time, so this should not be a real concern.

If there is anything else that I did not include, just ask, and I will answer. Thanks in advance to anybody willing to deal with this.

You should be able to find a Monarch game to join in no time. I would [lurk] in a few games and get a feel for how the games progress and you will catch on in no time.

Yes indeed! Welcome.

I was in the same boat as you last month or so. It was pretty daunting coming in here and seeing the many great civ players contributing here. I then spent 2 weeks or so lurking and reading many of the SG threads to pick up pointers. I then took the plunge and joined a few games. It was great!!!

I'm a fairly firm Emporer player, but if you wish we could start up a Monarch game and see if anyone else is interested to join. I sometimes play a Monarch game when I get sick of never being able to build an ancient wonder on the higher levels.

Let me know if you want me to set up a game and what settings you would like.

I've also been lurking around the SG threads trying to pick up a few pointers from some of the more experienced players. After checking things out over the past few weeks, I've noticed a lack of lower level games (regent/monarch).

I am rather proficient on regent and trying to make the jump to monarch. I feel a SG would be the best way for me to pick up the skills needed to advance to the higher levels.

I'd be down for a monarch level game if anyone else is interested.

Well, I'll start one up then and see who else might be interested. Any preferred choice for a Civ? Or any other settings? (I assume you can play PTW 1.21?)

Excellent. I thought that nobody would ever end up replying to this post. I'm glad that it got this sort of response.

@Rubberjello: I like the title. Very fitting.

As for the civ, I vote for China, Korea, Rome, or America. I don't really have any specific reason why, especially seeing as I am not sure of what kind of map we are going to play, but I just thought that a game with one of those civs would be interesting, not having played one myself. Of course, I am open to other ideas.
