New Tradable Items

Has anyone been able to add new tradable items to a mod? Adding new entries into the TradeableItems enum file in the SDK is insufficient, and the display errors that result when I do lead me to suspect something in the python files. However, I have no idea what/where the necessary changes would need to be.

To clarify, I mean new classes of items, not merely new resources, etc. I would prefer actual, working solutions to speculation.
