new unit: 2 Handed swordsman (Oct 8, 2008)

That is one Powerful Guy, being able to Wield such a SUPER Sword!
I would name him Conan The Barbarian due to his Strength :) :goodjob:

I made a Civ Specific units_32.pcx and Civilopedia Small .pcx and Adjusted the Large Civilopedia .pcx IF you want them.

It does matter what palette is loaded to the units_32 images :)

Wow, that is one big-arsed sword. Kind of have to swing it like a scythe, and the backside of it looks like a saw! Ow.

Vuldacon... Wondering why our uploaded versions of the unit_32 file has different file sizes (yours is about 200 bytes greater than mine) I checked both and find out that yours is 34x34 instead of 32x32 pixels. I bet you want to fix this.
P.S.: Special thanks for all your worthful unit-fixes and sound-addons.

Looking through my collection of your units (I have all) I notice that the most of them have this "little problem" within the units_32.pcx file.

Sorry if you allready know this!!! BUT HERE`S FOR YOU MY

Mini-Tutorial: "How-To-Make-units_32.pcx-In-CIV3-Color" by General 666

1. Make a copy of the original
c3c.gif
Units_32.pcx. (Much Needed Safety Step (Believe Me!!!))
2. Load that copied version into your GFX-Prog for .pcx-files and shrink the whole thing to "32 x 32 Pixels". (Now you got a little funny pic)
3. Load the pcx-file you want to add (most times it will be your units_32.pcx created with FLICster I guess).
4. Copy/Paste it into the shrinked copy of the original C3C Units_32.pcx.
5. While the picture/window still activated choose "SAVE AS" and save under desired name.

Do only these steps. Especially DON´T change the palette!!! And that`s It! Your Done!

The whole procedure cost me under half-a-minute.(Seems not to work with these PediaIcons)
Me using this for years and hasen`t got ever any problem.

Another possible way: (I NEVER DONE THIS)
Just load the palette of the original file and save it to the desired file.
But I don`t know if it works. I will verify this in the next time.

All this is meant to make you more autonomous in future.

Awaiting the promised unit!

For your ease here is a Units_32.pcx from every unit you created in corrected colors. Used methode discribed above.

Also included is a
c3c.gif
unit-sheet with all your creations added in alphabetical order.
So there should be no need for you to work on former released units.
Hope it helps to concentrate on the new project.

I think this is my last post on this thread. Don`t want to spam your thread. Leaving. Will meet you again. Bye

General666 thank you for playing we have a nice parting gift for you. Vuldacons unit 32 file includes a border to the left right top and bottom in the correct border color of # b600b6 this allows you to perfectly align it on the unit 32 pcx sheet. Also I do not think you realize that Vuldacon changed the blue civ color on the original unit 32 to red making it civ specific when used on the unit 32 sheet.

The fastest way to change units that have been made with the "standard" default civ colors (blue) is based on this somewhat startling observation I made, and confirmed via Flicster (I saved a storyboard using the units32.pal I generated in Paint Shop Pro):

The Civ-specific color slots in the Units32.pcx palette are EXACTLY THE SAME as the Civ-specific color slots in the UNIT files, so it was a simple matter to export the storyboard as a flic, then re-export the flic as a storyboard, but with Civ color 6 (blue) selected to get an exact Units32 palette, but with BLUE as the civ colors.

Now all I do is take the raw unit render (after cropping and shrinking), and load the Units32_BLUE.pal file I created.

Then (here's the critical part), after making a few adjustments (like deleting the unit's shadow and other things to make it look better), I load the ORIGINAL units32.pal, but HAVE MAINTAIN COLOR INDEXES selected in the "load palette" options.

What that does is load the new palette so that the colors in the image are replaced with whatever color was at that index in the old palette, which will change the civ-colored blue to red (although one or two pixels might be out of place, due to bluish and redish colors being used elsewhere in the pallette, but those are easy to fix), and you're done!

I don't know if I uploaded my units32_BLUE.pal file to the site or not, but I can do that, if anyone would like.
