On mars already, waiting!
Incoming! (again)
And to challenge the air superiourity of the stuka, her is a Generic ground attack plane with Civ Coloured stars on the wing.
I felt that Civ III unit progression had a gap for a ground attack plane, cheaper than the bomber but with more bombard punch than the Fighter.

Here are the files;

to use the unit create a folder in your CivIII/art/units file called Assaulter and put all the files in it. Aso you will need the following sound files;
from the firaxis bomber unit;
Bomberbomb.wav
and from the firaxis fighter unit;
Fighteratck.wav
FighterRUN.wav
FighterDEATH.wav

If you want to change the name of the unit, you must change the name of the INI.TXT in the folder, and also the name of the folder.

Here is a preview;

I've been looking for a graphic for my Naval Bomber, and this would be great. Looks rather like a Japanese torpedo bomber in fact. Do you happen to have Large and Small .pcx pics for it? I tried making some from the .gif you posted, but they don't look too good (I suck at graphics).

Here is a big shot of the plane, I'm going to release a strip of units32 images for all my units soon and the dive bomber should be on it.

If you want a more animated attack sequence change the
RUN entry in the .INI file from the run.flc to the attack.flc that should give you an animation that fires its machine guns as it attacks.

Hers the plane big image;

I'm not sure how to change that image in to a Civlopedia image but i'm sure its not too difficult.
Here is a preview of my two engine bomber that is nearly finished, it looks quite like the twin engine bombers used by japan to sink the HMS prince of wales and the repulse near sinapore;

Can't wait to get my hands on that one! Thanks for all the great units smoking mirror!

That graphic looks pretty cool, and I cant wait for it so I can use it, but I have one little correction for you if you plan to use this as a japanese bomber, which it sounds like you do. That looks more like the medium bomber the united states and britain were using in europe rather than the bomber that japan used to sink the 2 ships you mentioned. Please excuse me for being picky but it does.

this is the bomber im refering to:

Yes unfortunately that is the case, the twin engine bomber I have posted here is a Generic design (chosen for the ubiquity of its design, it could pass for one of several designs) for a scenario I am working on covering 1943-2000. With such a large time span the twin engine prop driven bomber is going to represent a small portion of the units produced (the design is already semi obsolete by the time the scenario starts), I am kind of planning to do a special "flavour" bomber unit for the japanese; but I also have a lot more units planned, so as to wheter it actualy gets built or not depends mostly on time and ease of design.

If any one wants a Twin engine japanese UU bomber, please post a 4 directional projection drawing (like a engineering bluprint, but less complicated) and the chances of me geting it done will be increased.

For an example of a 4 way projection drawing, here is what I used to make my six engine super heavy bomber (Usualy a right and left view are shown, but sometimes only a left or right. Also sometimes with aeroplanes a bottom view is shown, the maximum number of views is six);

Thanks for the big pic of the single engine type: I'll convert this into pcx's for the Civilopedia. And echo the thanks for all the other units too. You're a godsend to the graphically challenged :)
