New Unit MKIV Tank

Yes that is a good idea, especially since these early tanks weren't nearly as fast or agile as modern tanks... In fact Italy designed a tank similar to the German AV7, but they never used it during WWi because their front was mostly mountainous and the terrain stopped the tanks...

I've added this tank to my game as a 12/6/1 unit. The weak defense and slow movement forces it to travel with infantry, just like it did in WW1. The movement also forces it to coincide with, not replace , cavalry units, which remain the only quick way to hunt down injured units or rush units to an unlinked front.

Since I'm not a fan of the DYP "more is better" school of thought, I rarely add units, but this one really adds something to the game. There would, otherwise, be this monstrously huge hole between Cavalry and Shermans where defense has an almost insurmountable advantage that makes the game crawl to a halt in the industrial age. This unit is just what the game needs to get you past that period.

A definite must have.

Actually, if you look at WWI that's exactly what happened: warfare ground to a halt in the trenches, resulting in long hard wars of attrition. I'm pretty sure there was trench warfare in the American Civil War too

A a student of the Civil war... Yep there was trench warfare. not nearly as much but I believe during the seige of Vicksburg it was used extensively and also towards the end of the war in the fighting around Richmond and Virginia. But while the trench tactic did occur it didn't really bog down the fighting as it did in WWI... Casualties were horrendous but with only single shot rifles and primitive repeaters an army could still charge a trench and make it across... were in WWI the machine gun pretty much stopped most advances (until the tank was developed to bust through the lines).... Anyway enough history for today.... Go out and play Kids :)

Excellent job Kinboat on MKIV and AV7! I use them as offensive units with 11-7-2 stats for AV7 and 10-6-2 for MKIV. Of course, I've made MKIV a little bit cheaper than AV7. Also, I turned off BLITZ capability so they can attack only once. I see some guys gave them only 1 movement point, but that makes no sense. They were slow indeed but not that slow. I've put REFINING for required tecnology. Since these tanks were highly unstable and prone to malfunctions I think they can be barely related with something like motorized transportation. Once again, great job!
