New Unit: Treasure

Yes. I was pretty sure non-standard units could find various uses.
Some more Utahjazz ? :p

I don't know. What type of units did you have in mind?

Also, could this use the "defend" animation in the .ini file because the chest wouldn't be attacking anything? I've never tested that, but it might work.

Does not sound to me like a major pb. Attack and defense are usually the same move. As long as the treasure as "o" in attack, it will stick to defense only. So this is more an editor-thing than a graphical question IMHO.

Actually it was more or less a joke but now that you mention it I am pretty sure other things can be done and used.

Such as (just ideas, no organization, still with the capture-flag)

- plutonium stock (for a terrorist / anti terrorist scenario)
- religious relics or art stuff (St Graal,...)
- files
- natural ressources in a pillage / colonization (?) scenario
- ressources in an embargo scenario

I guess others will have more ideas....
But I won't dare ask you before a while now. Others should have requests too. :king: the nicest (!)

:crazyeye: HA! I got a use for this "unit". Okay, here it goes. It can be used as a great leader replacement. Instead of gaining a leader, you get a treasure chest. You can rush production with it and it can also be used to fund an army. Once used, it dissappears, which is quite logical, unlike a leader dissappears once used (which I still don't understand).
What do you all think of MY idea? :crazyeye:

That doesn't sound bad to me.

You know, you could put lots of little legs underneath the chest, then.....;)
(Anyone out there like Terry Pratchet?)

This would have devastating combat stats ... too unbalancing :D ;)

Yes indeed, maybe use it as some kind of transport. With a capacity as high as possible. :D

Don't make fun of my unit, you blue-skinned Imperial officer! ;) (Thrawn did have blue skin, no? Did I just make a fool of myself? It's been ten years or so since I've read those books.)

I've got a few ideas for this unit. You could use it as a placed barbarian unit on a scenario. Give it no combat stats so it's capturable, the AI shouldn't know what to do with it so I'm guessing it would stay put. If you give it some insane shield count it might give you a lot of help with recycling, but short of that you can check the "finish improvements" box in the editor. That would make it a bit powerful, but hey, it's treasure.

The other idea is similar to the first except that the unit is not a placed unit. Instead it would be used as the default barbarian. Ideally, the AI wouldn't use it to attack, so barbarian villages would just keep cranking out these puppies until you decide to go and capture them. Then.... swag galore! Short of recycling these things or finish improvements, you could set them up so that they have a 1 population cost and can join cities. That way it would have some benefit, even if it's not too plausible.

That's it from the sane one, but keep up the pirating. (Maybe a hermit unit too)

Yes indeed, he did have blue skin, and I wasn't making fun. Just pointing out another use if you gave it lots of little legs. (And called it Luggage) :)

I do like playing Role Playing Games... and as I recall the Mimic looked exactly like a chest until it came to the point it had the chance to bite ya... It's angry eyes would open and the chest would open to show many HUGE teeth ready to chomp down on your arse. That is how the Animation file for the attack should look like.
A maniac sounding laugh would be cool too... perhaps a Burp for a victory and the thing licking its lips?????

I LOVE IT!

MAKE IT NOW.. cause i can't do it myself
That's an order from many a persons.. not just a request!!!!!

woah! now someone has a similar name as me, what is the world coming to?

I might find a way to put this into my Japan scenario or my future Pirate scenario. :)

just diggin' this one out of the ground to ask for someone to make a few modifications for me. I need eleven versions of this unit, one for each of the various shipment types available in RaR.

Coffee Shipment
Cotton Shipment
Fur Shipement
Gem Shipment
Gold Shipment
Silk Shipment
Silver Shipment
Spice Shipment
Tea Shipment
Tobacco Shipment
Wine Shipment

Basically what I am looking for is someone to place the resource icon inside the chest in such a way that it is aparent what is being shipped. Lou, you think you might be up to this task? I know you have tons of experience with the old cut n' paste.

here's to hoping someone will do this for me. thanks in advance,

Kal

All we need is for some unit genius to combine that with the wizard gfx that someone has already done, and we can have Rincewind!! (Although I might use this as a replacement for the Treasure in the Age of Discovery Scenario in Conquests)

I'm already doing that. :D

Anyone know whatever happened to good ol' Utahjazz? I may need to go Toldeo and find him. *grumble*

Oh, thanks a lot. I'm here trying to break my Tropico 2: Pirate Cove addiction and here you go making a treasure chest unit.

(I'm kidding, nice flag unit. It's certainly better than that lousy princess. ;))

this unit is used in the Age of Exploration scenario for Civ3 Conquests, isn't it, or did Firaxis just copy you, or did they ask for your permission to use the unit in their scenario?

I guess the pirate scenario I'm working on won't help much then. This will certainly find itself used in my scenario though.
