now that it has been announced there will be 30 wonders, a couple more than civ 3, has anyone thought about what it might be. i hope 2 of them are statue of liberty and eiffel tower. i liked them a lot in civ 2. anyone other ideas?

When they say 30 wonders are they talking about small and great... if that is small and great... that is worse then civ 3 and we should be worring about which are not there. I really hope that is just great wonders.

i know with simcity, certain landmarks weren't allowed to be used 'cuz... well, some of them didn't like the idea of buildings being built and destroyed, or at least portrayed, even if it is fictional. i dunno if that was the case w/ civ too, but i know the eiffel tower is one of those hard to get buildings.

And I don't think Bush'd be too chuffed about the Statue of Liberty being destroyed, even in a game.

The Great Wall will surely be included~~~

And I sincerely hoped terra-cotta will be added to the game too~~

"I will not allow the Aztecs and their evil dictator Montezuma to threaten our freedom!"

I hope they mean 30 great wonders, with small excluded. I also think some new wonders could be: Stonehenge, Chiken Itza(spelling?), Rosetta Stone Discovery, DNA theory, the Pantheon and the African Slave Trade. In reality though the only one they might put in is Stonehenge, and even then there's a low chance.

I agree with microbe. It wouldn't matter to me if there were fewer Wonders. 'More' doesn't make it a better game.

Same here. As soon as you start playing demigod or higher it gets pretty tough to build any.

I happy they are bringing back the wonders videos. I loved those in civ2 & have no idea why they took them out of all the others.

Too bad.

It has been the case since the early CIV games...All wonders can be destroyed.

.

African Slave Trade as a wonder would hardly be politically correct though, would it :p .

I would like to see more modern and industrial ages wonders this time.

How about the Moon Landing and Penicillin for example?

Moon landing is covered by the Apollo program.

i like penicilin
some more i would like to see are:
eiffel tower
the lourve
and possibly the colliseum

not only should we ask what the wonders are going to be
but what effects they will have on the game
and maybe some changes to old wonders
possibly make the great wall stronger lol
in civ 3 some wonders were so powerful youd sacrifice anything to get to it first
while others you could sit by and let pass
id like to see some changes made to the effects and how the new wonders turn out

I think the wonders should be:
Stonehenge- Couple of content citizens, or maybe some scientific bonus
Chiken Itza- Pure happiness, like the Hanging Gardens in CIVIII
Rosetta Stone Discovery- Extra scientific research, the amount based on how many ancient buildings there are in the city it's "built" in
DNA theory should be deleted; it should be a research instead
Pantheon- same as Oracle in CIVIII, but I think Oracle should be taken out
African Slave Trade- I don't quite know how slaves will be dealt with in CIVIV, so I can't say at the moment
Penicillin- same as Slave Trade, but with health
7 Wonders of the World- an actual wonder itself, it should require (naturally) 7 wonders and should really give a lot of culture (and thus, tourism)

What would be cool is civ-specific wonders and make them small wonders and have them come from the same tech.

For example: Free-Standing Structure (tech).

Allows: Effiel Tower (France)
CN Tower (Canada)
And I know there are many more, but I just can't think of any right now.

Or what could be a better idea is make a Great Wonder differ depending on the civ that builds it. Like both Canada and France building a Free-Standing Structure wonder and if Canada builds theirs first then France has to give up theirs. Or the Stock Market wonder, becomes the Berlin Exchange or Boston Stock Exchange depending on the city that builds it.
