New World War II Scenario

So, when is it due for release?

:o

Yeah, that's a good question Insurgent  :D

Thx for asking though. Guess I have not been really clear if anybody liked it or not. But anyway, it will be finished. I am just waiting for the final call of inspiration to make the last polish.

Here is the final call:

"BKA - Get it finished!"

It's too good to be not released! :D

Hi all,

I have decided to release the scenario. I have become a bit stuck in the proces, but I have made a lot of final adjustments based on the findings people have shown here in this thread together with some new sound work.
I plan to update the scenario a long the way, but right now I need to start on something fresh. Hope that some of you still will give it a try now and then.

Thanks for all the support and feedback! It has been a great. :king:

Best regards

BKA.

Hi all!,

Just to let those who still check out this thread know,
I have deceided to postpone the scenario.

I have come up with a great project. I am working on placing units after the original strenght in 1939 for every country. Not only the infantry but also air and sea units. So here goes:

Every land unit in the scenario will correspond to 1 division and its placement in 1939.
Every sea unit (battleship, carriers, cruisers, NOT destroyers :-)) will correspond to the number and placement of 1939.
Every air unit (bomber, fighter) willl correspond to a wing/staffel and it's placement in 1939.

This is quite a massive task, but it feels so right! It's like building a true battleground of 1939 and giving players a change to really change history. Of cause the quality of the products cannot be reflected this way (ie. major differences between a British or Italian battleship) but I think this is okay. Britain for instance have so many ships!!!! I never realized before now, and they should be able to make short work of an aggresive Italian navy should that be the case.

Anyway, this is truly rewarding work, and I think it's worth it.

Best Regards

WOW That sounds very interesting! I can't wait

Yet if you plan to have different nations with different units, how will you fit them all. I fele you'll probably be forced to cut corners.

Yeah some corners have to be cut. For instance infantry divisions can be of very different sizes and units. But overall it still can be used as a marker of a certain strenght. I thínk it really doesn't matter that much what it compromises, but rather if it's motorized or non-motorized or SS-unit. The scenario takes place on a grand scale, so I think the mobility and elite status is most important.

Like stated above destroyers will not be placed historically correct neiter their numbers. PT-boats, light cruiser will not be placed at all. There will be a large amount of "grey" zones, but this scenario cannot be an exact recreation of the starting strenght of all nations in 1939. But I think it can be close.

Consider making different sets of rules and units for time periods. Such as in 2194 days of war. This will allow to have a greater variety of units while discarding them as their usefulness or appropriatness ends.

okay, I will think about that, though basically I am against changing and loading anything manually after a civ2 scenario is loaded.

Hmm, it's very though to find Soviet and Japanese Oob's, but yesterday I succeded in finding a copy of a Red Army Oob book in my uni's library. Huja!

Still working on the scen. He, he the Soviets are really strong.
Over 100 infantry divisions by 1939 compared to 4 American!
Germany mounts around 50 infantry and around 5 panzer divisions by 1939. An attack on the Russian Bear will therefore require enormous ressources especially if Germany also wants to destroy the 15 Soviet tank corps, ie 30 tank divisions! :D
