Here's my recently created NZ map that I used with my scenario :)

Any comments?

The southern tip of North Island looks too stretched, and not enough mountains on North Island, and too much forest, but other than that good job.

Actually, before human settlement (only 600 years ago) New Zealand was almost entirely covered by forest.

I don't know what our Canadian friend is talking about with respect to the mountains. Ruapehu, Taranaki, Tongariro and Ngaurahoe are the only mountains of note and they are placed accurately.

I agree about the southern tip of the North Island, but other than that, well done Subheat!!

lake taupo could be bigger, and you dont really have the central plains...

but other than that it seems good

I agree about the southern tip of the North Island. I'll have to find a way to fix it. And if anyone knows how to copy and paste let me know :).
I guess I could make the Cook strait a bit bigger.

Re: the forests:
I've included 2 maps in the zip file. An ancient one (completely forested), and a modern one (deforested). Thought it was best considering the radical change NZ has undergone.
And about the mountains...as lucidity said, there are mt ruapehu, ngaurahoe, taranaki (egmont), tongariro..
that's about it. The rest is mostly hillland.

I think I might have to change lake taupo aswell. It's a bit to small.
Here's the link to my completed modern day NZ scenario.
