Newb: PTW compatibility

One more thing. Can I play against people with civ gold or regular PTW with CIV conquests?

I don't think so. Whoever you play against has to have the same expansion as you. (And original civ3 doesn't support Multiplayer anyway).

Yes and no.

Conquests comes with PTW included. If you open PTW and not Conquests, you will be able to play with other PTW players. However, Conquests players can only play other Conquests players.

I think - but am not sure, haven't tried it - that if you copy over the Civilization3x.exe from the Conquests disc to the original PTW directory, you can use Conquests to play PTW. But if you then patch it, it overwrites that file and goes back to the PTW version of Civ3x.exe. Conquests should install the 1.27 patch, tho.
