This is probbly a realy stupide question!

How do i transport settlers to other islands? Can it be done early in the game?

Thanks!

Well... not early per se... You must study map making and it will give you Galley's.Or Ships to carry your settler\warrior\or almost anything you can think of in.

Yeah. They only have 1 attack 1 Defense, and 3 movement. They cannot go one ocean(Dark colored water) squares, or sea (the slightly darker colored water) un less you have the Great Lighthouse.(one hell of a powerful lighthouse if you ask me) For more info, check out the in game Civilopedia. Are you used to other strategy games? Galley's in this game are more of an transport.

I suggest to you to use galley to explore your nearby ocean, stay close to the coast or it will sink( most of the time). You can find sometime a shallow way to another island, then you can go.

But me , most of the time, i wait until astronomy and navigation, i will always get magellan wonder( on regent level). Then you can use explorer and caravel without any lost at sea. You dont want your escorted settler to sink.

So the transport shipe are galley, caravel, galleon and transport. They can be built in any coastal city, you need oil for modern transport, other require none.

Thanks guys :D It help alot and i just manage to win my first game.

PCHighway: Yeah i usaly play a old RTS-game called Age of Empiers: Rise of rome. Galley's dont transport there.

Yeah you gotta love those ol' RTS's

I had to jump in here. I've only had this game for like 5 days and came here looking for help. I have figured out though how to move ships in deep waters early in the game. You can't neglect them there. Every time your turn comes around you have to move the ship you left in the deep water the last turn. If you happen to move something else instead when your turns comes around, your ship will sink - every time. I have successfully moved settlers early on -- as soon as I have made a Galley that is.

Unless you have the great lighthouse, or if your using Galleys, or have learned navigation your ships will ALWAYS stand a chance of sinking in deep water if you end it's turn there...
