NewDestroyer: the thread in questions seems to have been deleted and I will not sitr up this old story, especially as I felt propmted to PM Thunderfall about exactly that issue again today.

Just saw your new signature Killer, and I'll be the first to tell you to have a nice 'vacation' :)

PS, still doing the PBEM's right?

1. @Grille/anyone: WLTLD reduces Waste (shields) not Corruption (commerce)?

2. Generally speaking, can WLTLD reduce waste in a "dead" town (viz. a town producing 1 shield & 1 commerce)?

3. Is there a rule-of-thumb for easily (viz. without pen & paper) figuring out what the WLTLD will do to a town that is, say, 50% "wasted"?

4. Do Courthouses really reduce corruption & waste by 50%, excluding "dead" towns? If not, what's the Rule of Thumb?

5. When performing a "Milk Run", it sure would be nice to turn off the delay-of-game announcing all the towns that are starting/ending WLTLD's. Possible?

Hurry back, Killer........your advice is most welcome! :goodjob: :goodjob:

WLTKD only reduces waste, and not corruption.

With the latest patches, dead towns around often bad towns w/ courthouses. Add polices stations and it's VERY rare to be dead. Through in a WLTKD along with courthouses and police stations, and a dead turns into a usefull town (with waste no more that 66% (picked that number out of a hat)).
So yes, it helps dead towsn massively.

3. I'm not sure, there's a thread you can find in the war acadamy about corruption.

4. Courthouses do not reduce by 50%. That's civ2. IIRC it has something to do with 25% more OCN somthing...

5. I'm not sure what you mean... :hm:

5. Clarification: When playing GOTM15, I had literally hundreds of towns & cities. At the end-of-turn, the AI announces, accompanied with a "thwack" sound, those towns that are commencing/ending a WLTLD............similar to when a town's cultural border expands. It doesn't stop the game but if you have say 20 cities each turn, it makes for quite a wait between turns! ;)

Please NO "Build LESS town's" wisecracks!

To answer that question: No

Althoguh you could try to make SURE it stays WLTKD or make sure it never hits

Sorry about the confusing corruption statement.

Me thinks the "thwack" thing is hard-coded. Maybe you can ensure that WLKT always goes on by hiring entertainers etc. Then again, you'll have to micromanage a lot (metro has just one excess food -> grows, starves, grows... & that orange dirt...). Have a coffee.

Here's my own:
Does anyone know exactly the exact correlation between overstepping OCN/waste effects?

coal and iron. and workers. and a road there.

so yes

damn, the only civ that has it is the greeks. So I guess I'll kill them.

I spose I should change from democracy to republic if i'm going to go into war?

that depends... what civ are you?

Also depends if the war is going to be really drawn out, and depends on how much or or less powerful you are. Sure you can't just trade for it?

Just a quick question

When I first signed up I picked the first name to pop into my head. Now I've thought of one that I like and could see myself using permanently, how do I go about changing it without losing my number of posts?
(mmmm custom avatar ......drool,slobber)
I am also playing the tournament under this name as well.

A question like that would be better in site feedback I believe, as this thread is more directly related to civ3.

You could also PM Thunderfall I think.

You could try PMing Thunderfall and ask him to change it. I don't think the mods have the ability to change it, but they might.

I'm the Egyptians, playing on Warlord level.

I'm getting hostpitals in all my cities right now (the ones that need them anyway) so my cities will be big soon.

Is building factories a gamble?

I'm thinking of taking the rest of the Romans out, since germany has killed most of them, and my peace treaty is over with the romans.

Should I change to republic or should I stay on democracy or will i get unhappy people ? (most people are content or very happy, majority are very happy, and I don't even have anything on luxury)

Thanks in advance.

Ok, as egypt you are religious so you can switch governments without much hassle.

After losing troops, cities, and having your troops in their lands/their troops in yours, people get upset in democracy. They get less upset in republic, and not upset in the other gov'ts. If the war weariness gets bad just switch to monarchy, or communism until the war is over.

If the war weariness is only moderate, then just turn the luxery slider up.

As for factories, they increase te base uncorrupted shields by 50%, and another 50% for powerplants (although nuclear is 100%), so factories and powerplants GREATLY imporve your empre. I would recommend getting them in all your main cities.

ok, kool thanks.

I will turn into a republic now and get as much roman space as I can.

Then I will go for the greeks, they are the only ones who are as scientific as me, they annoy me. :)
