and they have coal!

Unless you expect the war to be really bloody, I'd stay a democracy until things get out of hand. If you switch to republic midway, I'm ptretty sure the war weariness will be cut down to around half. If you have Universal Suffrage/and or police stations in all major cities, war weariness is quite manageable!

Yeah, I have most of the buildings in all my cities.

I've come to a stage where all I can build is military or get wealth per turn.

Oh, and I have coal now.

Is there a wonder or a technology that allows you to turn all your roads to railroads automatically????

It costs 2 turns on already built roads to get railroads, i'm sure there is a quicker way, right????

Thanks in advance.

Playing more diety Aggie ;)?

Actually, I'd like to second that question, plus follow up with,

How does communism help espionage? does it make you harder to be spied on? does it make your spies more successful? cheaper? better cahnce of planting a spy?

@bbcrackmonkey (5 pages back... nobody answered him).

This has to do with going into text files and adding those required words. A stickied thread (to of the page )somewhere in customization and creation subforums (probably units) has a tutorial for how to add them.

Let's hope you habn't given up hope for waiting on an answer.

Thanks all who responded to my Build Queue patch version compatibility query.

Fired up Civ3 last night for the first time at 7:00pm. After an "hour or two" I was hungry, so I looked up and it was 1:00am! I'm happily overwhelmed - my last Civ experience was in the early 90s. Might be back to ask some more questions once I repel the Zulus tonight.

Cheers

considering it's after 3 am my team, and 6 am on the other side of the US, I wouldn't count on too many people being awake (i'm pretty sure most people on this site are american anyway)

but yeah, I wanna know this espionage stuff too!

Aggie, I've searched for an answer, since I'm pretty sure that I have read this somewhere. But, can't find it. That means that you could just as well post a thread on it.

BTW, I'm fully awake, and the sun is shining here outside.

Thanks Shabba, I make a thread of it. It's indeed very nice weather here in Holland!

@Hygro: You are right, most of the users are from the US. But a lot of the known 'newbie' experts are from Europe and Asia.

Yeah, I think that the most didicated users per capita come from the Eastern Hemisphere. In that case, enjoy your sun ;)

To be frank, it's not that enjoyable to be able to see the sunshine outside whilst sitting behind the computer inside...

Aggie,

AFAIK, espionage success is based on spy experience level. This is Regular for all government types apart from Communism (Veteran).

I have no idea about the actual percentages for stealing techs, although I am pretty sure that victim government type does not affect the chances of success of any spy action (apart from democracies being immune to propaganda).

I may be wrong on all counts, which is why I didn't answer earlier, but this is how it works in my mind. :)

Hygro, there are many of us from outside the US ;)

railroads in one turn reuire these things:

Industrious civ (like your civ egypt)
Replacable parts technology
Democracy as your government
Flat land (plains, desert, floodplains, grassland... are there others?)
