Newbie's hi and ?

Hello, I'm new to FfH and I've just started my frist game. I started with fire, never played the previous version and I'm massively overawed by the scale and size of the changes and ideas.
I guess it's gonna take me a while before I figure everything out and try all the features.
Two noob questions though:

1. Is this number slightly left and under the research bar at the top the armageddon counter? If no, what is it and where is the AC?

2. What is this "hyborum" that appears in so many posts? I really couldn't find it anywhere, including the FfH Wiki page...

1. Yes that's the Counter.
2. Hyborem is the "leader" of the Infernals, who get summoned when the Ashen Veil religion is founded.

Apparently, you've never tried to sleep in house near a marsh. Plus, they're one of the critters that figure in the OO source material. Personally, I'm quite worried for my Elohim when various OO units and 'Heroes' truly get up to speed. Ashen Veal - Charrming.

i think before it was just a variant spelling, now its got a tangible possible form as a hell terrain cow replacement resource. basically, 'its funny because its true', i.e. with more to identify it with it gains humour.
