Civilization VI - Game of the Month 27

Welcome to the 27th game in the 6OTM Series! These games will allow new and old GOTM fans to try out the new features in Civ6 in a friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to post questions, stories, advice, tricks and failures in the dedicated game threads (described below). Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for. We will be working to refine the 6otM concept as we move ahead with the series.

We would like to ask you to abide by our most sacred rule: Don’t replay any turns! If you make a mistake, accept it and try to recover. To ensure fair play and prevent results exclusions, please set your Autosaves to 1 turn. In the event of a computer crash while playing, just reload to the previous save and play it as closely to how you played it the first time. Please let Leif know (via Conversation (Private Message)) if you experienced a crash and how many turns you replayed.

Arabia's Unique Attributes:

Spoiler :
Saladin's Special Ability: Righteousness of the Faith - The worship building for their religion can be purchased by any player for just one-tenth of the usual faith cost. This worship building is enhanced to add 10% to the science, faith and culture output of Arabian cities.

Unique Ability
: The Last Prophet: Automatically receive the final Great Prophet when the next-to-last one is claimed (if you have not earned a Great Prophet already). +1 Science for each foreign city following Arabia's religion.

Unique Unit: Mamluk: Arabian unique unit that replaces the Knight. Heals at the end of every turn, even after moving or attacking. Requires the technology of Stirrups to build them.

Unique Infrastructure: Madrassa: Arabian unique building that replaces the University and provides a bonus to Faith equal to the adjacency bonus of the campus district. Requires the knowledge of Theology, a Campus District and a Library.

Opening Actions thread: This thread is used to discuss the game's opening decisions and strategies through the first 100 or so turns. Results and Congratulations thread: We will create a separate thread with the results at the end of the one month submission period (sorted by date and score). We will issue medals to the top 3 winners (based on earliest date finished). There are no long-term records kept for these results, they are just given out to top finishers to reward their efforts.

With the new patch, we have a new Religious Layer. Thought we could give it a test drive and see what we think of it. This game is the same concept as 6otM21. If you played that game, please let us know what improvements or problem you noted between the implementation of Religion in the new patch for Civ6.
 
Good producing spot but tundra to south, desert to north. From first view hard spot for second city
 
My initial thought is to settle 1 NE to be on the coast/river -no loss of production and can get out galleys early. Based upon what I see, I think the western swamp is a decent spot for a second city if nothing better is found - at size 4 it can utilize the horses/truffles/2 southern hills still leaving 6 good tiles for the capital. Not sure whether to start with builder or scout. I hate early barb rushes and the scout can help stop that while checking to see if this is a small or large island.
 
I usually settle in place, but I like @Eyswein's suggestion, think I will go for it. That would also allow placing some districts (Encampment?) on desert, instead of hilly tiles. Anyways, this will be my first Deity, first Religious and first as Arabia game, so all I'm actually aiming for is a win :)
 
I am on OSX Mac and cannot load the file.It's happening with a few other saves from finished games from other players.The files opens the intro to the game with description and dialog but hangs there.

This requires the Fall 2017 patch, which AFAIK isn't out for Mac/Linux yet.
 
Yeah, it requires the Fall Patch. Not sure if Mac/Linux use the same version numbers as windows, but we put the software version used to create the save in the Announcement.

No, with Religious VC it has been decided that giving cities with your religion in them is abusing the AI as they cannot refuse it knowing what you're doing.
