This game MUST be played in patch version 1.61. We will NOT accept any games played under any other patch versions, and you can't play it in warlords!

Further, it MUST be played using HOF mod version 1.61.011.

Game settings:
Civilization: China (Leader: Mao Zedong; Traits: Philosophical Organized)
Rivals: 8
Difficulty: Emperor
Map: Pangea
Mapsize: Standard
Climate: Rocky
Water level: Low
Starting Era: Ancient
Speed: Epic
Options: Aggressive AI
Victory Conditions: all enabled

Mao Zedong:
Mao Zedong is Philosophical and Organised; starting with agriculture and mining. Philosophical allows a +100% great person birth rate, and double production speed of universities. Organised allows -50% civic maintenance, as well as double production speed of lighthouses and courthouses.

Unique unit: Cho-ko-nu:
The Cho-ko-nu replaces the standard crossbowman. The stats remain the same (strength 6, moves 1, cost 90), but it gains an extra first strike, and it also causes collaterol damage!

The starting screenshot is here (click for a bigger version!)

Ignore the extended date for GOTM 18 - that was my little stuff-up!

You are first to post... but I was first to download - 6 minutes prior to your post.

Im already at 580BC

Moderator Action: Edited. Please do not post about the game outside the spoiler threads once you have started the game

My sincere apologies... I would not have guessed that just stating I had moved onto playing the game (and NO indication as to HOW the game was going) was in itself any type of spoiler. Again - very sorry... ...JungleIII

Took the Adventurer. We'll see if I'm alive at the time of the first spoilers

I just downloaded contender. I’ll give it a go, but on epic I seriously doubt I’ll have time to play the whole game out. It is just so nice and sunny outside, with sauna, lake and beach partied beckoning me. I didn’t even play GOTM 18 to the end due to real life commitments, but was happy when I can whipped out 3 civilizations, and was a long way ahead of the tec, with my new tanks rolling over wimpy grenadiers. Conquest was in close sight, but real life was more interesting then following through the final moves. I’ll probably just end out playing this one till 500AD, and see how good position I can get in that period of play time.

They should have a competition for the best developed civilization at 500AD. That would give something fun for people to do who don’t have time to dedicate to civ to play an entire game (especially on Epic) within a month.

well in any case it is still a good learning experiance to play the first part of the game as well as possible. the final years are normally just mopping up the backwards AI, and so don't provide the same learning experiances as planning the starting moves.
